the football team downed hebmeti • • • A strange mixture of blaring festival, slightly-bclow- average game results, the usual hero-worship of the participants and unexpected tragedy is the way we summed up Eastern’s silver- I anniversary football season. ] The colorful ceremony consisted mainly of adjunct activities such as the pep band, the baton- and flag-twirlers and the cheerleaders which, although they did not detract from the center ring, added considerably to the inducement's for which spectators look. The use of the new intramural athletic field on the north hill of the campus helped demonstrate the school's growth to the rest of the world. The scores unfavorable to Eastern's best morale need not be ■ stressed; faith in football as a legitimate activity in the best interests of the student body as a whole, was still predominant. With the athletic committee’s promise to stimulate the student body in ensuing years to greater school spirit, the 26th year of Eastern should see it retain its financial popularity. And with popular Oscar again leading the pack, hard work and long practice hours should produce another popular season. t. Tfl
