Mr. Eigabroadt, English Department QUESTION: How do current trends in economics affect you program at MPHS? ANSWER: Current economic trends force us to do more with far less purchasing power. Our reading program has been affected somewhat through a reduction in federal funding. We are no longer able to provide reading lab for all students with special reading needs. QUESTION: How have you found ways to supplement your budget for books, materials and supplies? ANSWER: During the past three years, our department has received some supplements and assistance from a gen- erous central administration and school board. We have utilized special funding as it has come along, and as it has been made available to us. QUESTION: What do you predict will be the overall effect of these times on our students at MPHS? ANSWER: There should be little effect on our students for they are not likely to have been aware of any “good old days.” They also will not be likely to realize how today’s faculty use an extreme amount of personal and professional dedication to replace dollars that either are declining or are no longer available.
