Department head —Mr. O’Connor Mrs. Baratier, Mr. O’Connor, Art Dept. Head QUESTION: How do current trends in economics affect your program at MPHS? ANSWER: Art supply funds have continued to decline. This requires art teachers to be more creative, frugal and limited in their art class experiences. QUESTION: How have you found ways to supplement your budget for books, materials and supplies? ANSWER: We have tried to be innovative in the use of materials and it is possible that fund raising projects will be needed as well as charging students for use of expensive materials (clay, metals, etc.) if they wish to keep certain art projects. QUESTION: What do you predict will be the overall effect of these times on our students at MPHS? ANSWER: If the trend of American education (less than 300 years) follows that of Europe, we will find education being limited to those who really want it and eventually a much wiser attitude toward any wealth of materials which America might have. We are an economy of waste, whereas Europe has become an economy of need. We are headed in that direction. Mrs. Willard, ART
