Two hundred years ago some men had a dream that would change America and survive while America changed. These men had the spirit needed to carry their ideas out. They were criticized; unity, freedom, and self-government would never work. They were reaching for the stars. Each of us has dreams and goals. Each of us wants to change the world, hut we don’t all have the resources to do it. We are each unique in our talents and abilities. Only if we unite and share our dreams will we reach our goals. We can’t change our past, but we have our whole future ahead of us. Changes. At times it may seem our goals are the stars, but if they can be accomplished we’ll do it. After all, it’s possible our achievements will be surviving the changing times two hundred years from now. Hey Linton don't be blue Frankenstein was ugly too. 4 Run Sp—Spot Run. But Margaret 6 p I know he’s in here somewhere. I'll never drink again.' 1 Raiders gonna getcha.’ ‘What do I do now?’ ‘You handsome brute.’ Right this way your tables waiting.” Got a Light? Coochie Coochie! Best “seat” in the park SENIORS Class Of ’76 Dedication Susan Zanta 1958-1974 In Memory of Susan Zanta No light, even the brightest star in the sky, could sparkle like Susan, nor could the sun bring more warmth to the hearts of those who loved her. She walked through life with a kind of open heart caring for people no matter who they were, and her laughter shined bright spreading joy, happiness and love. Time passes quickly and the same with our memories, but the memory of Susan will forever be with us. 18 Karen Smith Yesterday Where did it go? Time passes so swiftly, yet changes us so. Our high school days began September third on what we believed to be the hottest day of the season. Orien- tation was on this day and we were greeted by the cheer- leaders of Mont Pleasant. Here we were again, start- ing a new school and getting lost. Our dean for our Sophmore year was Mr. Reid White. The executive committee consisted of Jolie Gray, Treasurer, Tom Metzold, Sergeant at Arms, Lynn La- Freniere, Corresponding Secretary, Chris Nardi, Sec- retary, Debbie Maczynski, Vice President and Speaker, Carl Calabria. Being our first year at Mont Pleasant, we were depend- ing on our varsity football players for a victory over Linton and we lost. Our class was planning a trip to the capital of our nation, Washington, D.C. To finance this potential highlight of the year we sold bulletin boards. This pro- ject was moderately successful but there was still an insufficient amount of funds to finance this trip. Our junior year started off with a Friday night concert featuring Fox-Fire. This event was sponsored by the Student Board. The big football game of the year was played on our field against the cross-city rival, Lin- ton. Even though our spirits were high, outside was a different story. It was a very wet and dreary day. The great victor, Doc Holoday, won the game for us in a matter of seconds. The game ended with a 12-8 Mont Pleasant victory. Our basketball team with juniors, Albert Johnson, Tim Frame, James Sydnor, John Isabella and Tom Mott de- feated the Linton Devils for the first time in history at Linton. The drama club presented many successful plays, one of which was Dark of the Moon. Our Junior year class officers were Carol Piotrowski, President, Chris Nardi, Vice President, Dorothy Severino, Treasurer and Sue Dunn, Secretary. The class deans for our Junior year was Mr. Coton and Miss Reimer. Our Senior year started off, or did it? We reported for the first day of school without a full staff of teachers. The teachers strike, which lasted for fourteen days, ended in a teeth-pulling compromise. Classes during the strike were not worth going to. It really felt good to get into the swing of things again on the sixteenth day. Our Senior class officers were, President Carol Piotrow- ski, Vice-President, Patty Bowers, Secretary, Kim Teta, and Treasurer, Patty Hiller. Mont Pleasant You’ve changed us so Our three years are gone, but where did they go? Who says you can only smoke in the parking lot? Another swinging Christmas party. Who spiked the Hi-C? 19 Cathi Aloisi Rosanne Angerami Richard Aldi Natal ina Apruzzese Eugene Audi Kim Baldwin Marcia Balko Karen Bandosik Susan Barile Jamie Barton Eric Beeche John Belle Thomas Bergen Mary Bessinger Robert Bertrand Ella Bigelo William Blanchard Richard Bielecki Margaret Bianco Richard Bolton Colleen Burg Patricia Bowers Celeste Budd Vincent Budka Robert Burns Brenda Bushen John Butkus Virginia Canestraro Paolo Califano Frank Campo Carl Calabria Susan Cannavo Linda Carnegie Patricia Carpentier William Carter Roberta Centofanti Andrew Chalachanis Susan Cinquino Marianne Cintula Mark Ciotoli Dale Clark Robert Colafemina Mary Colamarino Thomas Commarto I Clara Coney 23 Catherine Conway Wilbert Corker Louis Costanzo Mary Kim Delaney Susan DiGiorgio Steven Decker Joseph Delefano Patricia DiCerbo Antonia Dilanne Tom Donato 4 ■ Melanie DuBois Darlene Donadio Mary Drezek Susan Dunn John DuPont Robert Durocher Thomas Egan Charles Ernest Thomas Farry Michael Fazio Timothy Frame Dawn Fennicks Sandra Fennicks Robert Fleig Joseph Flory Terry Fox Brian Fresoni Paul Friello David Gallagher Donna Gallagher Kurt Gallo : i :: Barbara Gauger James Gillis Margaret Hal) Scott Harper Lynn Howard Patricia Hiller Daniel Hogan Richard Holoday Brad Hutton Timothy Hyrny John Isabella Pamela Jackson Steven Insero Nancy Jansen Albert Johnson Linda Juracka John Karwatowski Thomas Kaufman Betty Ann Kelly Karen Klimek Billie Ann Knight Carol Korona Elizabeth Kozak Karen Kwolek MaryAnn Lima Debbie Maczynski Joseph Maimone Gar ' Maliszewski Jeffrey Malo John Martin III Maryanne Martin Albert Mancini Donald Maslanka Ronald Maslanka Kathy Mavente Alfonso Mazzone Cynthia McCall Christina Masotti Rita Miron Deborah Mitchell Thomas Metzold MaryEllen McCormack Lynn Morton Pamela Moskal James Monroe Thomas Mott Pamela Muscanell Nicola Nanci Stephen Nedosko Michael Neville Janice Nikolski Christine Nardi David O’Brien Christine Onorato Sandra Overbaugh Vincent Pagano Mark Pizzuti Marcia Pijanowski Clifford Pitt Regina Paniccia Cynthia Phillips Joann Pasquariello Sheryl Phillips Lucy Paniccia Bruce Peltier Debra Pajak Diane Pawlowski David Pone Billy Jo Ransom Rosemary Polimeni Prank Rafalik Jeffrey Quay Edward Pomykaj Geraldine Reese v Stephanie Raffele Donatella Roscioli Sandra Rossi Gino Sangiovanni Debbie Schager Dorothy Severino John Severino Charles Shannon Douglas Sheely James Simmons Karen Smith Sandra Smith Ronald Talbot Antoinette Tebano Kenneth Test Joseph Testa Moon Wing Tse Ann Tung Robert Tillman Vonnie Verutto Janice Towne Joseph Vitale Douglas Wade David Valentino Deborah Tomasek Irene VanDetta Maria Willig Martin Wagner Charles Walsh Mariann Zysk Linda Williams David Weatherwax Martin Williams Barbara Jo Wise IfTOl Lola Woodbeck William Wright Sheila Williams Altonio Williams David Woods The Way We Were... On the wall in the Technical Department Office beside the desk of the late Mr. Joseph S. Zizzi, Assistant Principal of Mont Pleasant High School, Head of the Technical Department, and Manager, Technical Services for the Schenectady City School District, was a small cardboard plaque which read, Our job is not to educate boys to be men as we are, but rather to be such men as they can be.” This was his philosophy of education and one to which he faithfully adhered. As a teacher, he enthusias- tically guided his students, encouraging them to do their very best so that they would become the best that they could be. As an administrator, his enthusiasm for technical education never waned, and under his leadership the “Tech” Program be- came one of the finest offerings in the state. His undying de- votion to Mont Pleasant High School and its student body was unquestionable. He and his camera could be seen at athletic events, cheering our teams on to victory—laughing when we won, despairing with the team when we lost. He was unyielding in his Joseph S. Zizzi efforts to carry out the policies and regulations as set forth by his superiors, whether these policies concerned faculty or students. He believed in equal opportunity for all; and believed in all things that are right and good for his fellow man. He was unswerving in friendship and was never happier then when he was doing something for his students or making something at his workbench for a particular friend. His sudden, untimely death creates a void in the halls of Mont Pleasant High School, but his voice will silently echo the memory of an enthusiastic teacher, an admired colleague, a most respected educator and a friend. With profound respect, we pause here to remember Joseph S. Zizzi—man of integrity, man of honor. Olga W. Foreign Exchange Teacher THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE PROGRAM The exchange program which Mr. Roberts is as- sociated with was organized by the Department of Education and Science in London under the Auspices of the United Kingdom Government and the office of the United States Department of Education. Approximately 120 teachers from Great Britain exchanged positions with American teachers for the period of one year. Most of the participants exchanged homes as well as jobs. The main objectives of the program are to improve Anglo-American relationships and to learn from different educational systema. The group of teachers from the United Kingdom spent a week at the end of the summer at American University in Washing- ton, D.C. for an orientation program. While there they met their American exchange teachers and had the opportunity to receive first hand knowledge about the schools they would be working in for the next year. Mr. Roberts has stated that he feels the program is important because the learning experience is intensified by first hand experience in another country. He feels that Mont Pleasant compares favorably with the typical English comprehensive school. ill Pre-K The Halls Dark Of The Moon Playbills Phedre The celebrated French troupe “Le Treteau de Paris” presented Racine’s Phedre in an experimental production on November 19, 1975 in the Mont Pleasant Auditorium. The French Honor Society under the leadership of Richard Bielecki with the cooperation of the Alliance Francaise de Schenec- tady sponsored the event which is under the patronage of the French Cultural Ambassador to the United States. Students from over thirty high schools and colleges in this area witnessed the production. A reception for the cast was held in the school library following the presentation, sponsored by the French Honor Society. The Techni- cal Services Club and members of the Society assisted with the staging and lighting aspects. Boy, now I did it. She red it upside down.
