FOREWORD In this, the 1966 edition of the Montaneer, we. as your editors, would like to dedicate this volume to certain principles. The theme for our yearbook is and always has been applicable to life at Nlont Pleasant. Indeed. it seemed fundamental that the theme chosen would truly reflect the countless aspects of Nlont Pleasant's life and ideals. Your editors have decided that a fitting title, one which possesses a very definite relevance to Mont Pleasant is wllhe Gates of Achieve- mentf' ln our present unpredictable world we have to learn about maturity and its coveted place in life. We can no longer he content just to recline and observe the efforts of others. Witll a desire to achieve something, we should be initially prepared to enter the adult world. It is fittingtathen, to seek to draw from our Alma Mater thefopportunities so ever-present. iiii V ' Within the confines of administration, guidance, and faculty. repose the HKeysfQQtffQfithe'5fGates which are integral parts of lVlont ,pleasanfgfivlfithin the Gatesl' we toil three years:firifttthefyviineyards of knowledge. Then. beyond tithe Cates,f.AjarN we shall encounter challenge and responsibilities which await the graduate. As they step through the gates and into life in its vaster sense, these graduates at once will be exposed to the myriad. opportunities to em- ploy what they have absorbed during their school life. Thus, will Mont Pleasant remain to its alumnae an educational institution which possesses those keys as well as a beloved tradition, the principles and ideals of which will make us increasingly aware of Hthe Gates of Achievement to be attainedj Ezliiors-in-Chief .. ..
