Theretore, a better understanding of the different languages helps a per- son be a better citizen. At Mont Pleasant We have a language depart- ment which trains students to under- stand, speak, read, and write modern languages. The method used is called the audio-lingual method. To help -the students develop a better under- standing ot the desired language, a language laboratory is provided in which students have an opportunity to listen frequently to the language being spoken. This enables students with varied interests to take some form ot mathematics in their tour years in high school. The basic purpose ot mathe- matics is, to give the student knowledge, not only of the fundamental reasoning ot mathe- matics, but to teach him to be able to apply this acquired knowledge later on in lite.
