.-.e 4, MCDNTANEER 1323 Published by the l , Senior Classes of the Mt. Pleasant High School Schenectady, New York MR. filiORGlC W. SPAINE ibeclicafion IN THE YEAR 1931, Mont Pleasant High School was a raw recruit in the field of secondary education. But it had at its helm a verteran of World War I who was also a veteran educator. The termination of World War II finds Mont Pleasant in its fifteenth year of existence. During this period, the destinies of this school have been guided by a man who places the proper administration of an institution for knowledge furthermost in his mind. Through his democratic ideas and propelling force for advancement and perfection, Mont Pleasant has been worthily merited as one of the leading high schools in the United States. When the war called many Mont Pleasant boys, this man proved by all his generous efforts that their concern was his concern. He has enthusiastically wel- comed back many of these same boys, realizing that only through their hard- ships and sacrifices are we still able to progress in the same free, American way. To prove not only the gratification of Mont Pleasant but also his own, he has encouraged and given much personal attention to these veterans with the desire of making the furtherance or completion of their high school education more profitable. Together with those many veterans, we extend our thanks to this man who has influenced our characters with his truthfulness, boldness, and fairness. He has clearly shown his desire' 'ri helping those who want to leave high school well prepared. In apprec' ' such guidance and understanding, we, the Classes of june 194-6 af '7, respectfully dedicate this yearbook to our principal, GEORG' I9 I-79 6 Within these pages we strive to bind the ed- ucational and social highlights with which this school has been associated for the past fifteen years. Every phase of school life, no matter hovv outstanding or unimportant it may have been, becomes an integral part of your cherished mem- ories. We hope that, in the years to come, mem- ories vvill be more vivid when you turn the pages of this yearbook to revive and relive those happy friendships and high ideals which enriched your school days at Mont Pleasant High School. '70 'lf 0,2 v i 6055 Oeln We gathered here in '43, We met our pals and friends to beg We came to stay for three long years, We had our doubts, our hopes, our fears. But soon we discovered as days came and went That to this school we slowly unbent, For it welcomed us with open arms, And wrapped us daily in all its charms. We entered as freshmen, so small and unknown To seniors with prestige we now have grown. We entered to learn, we'll go forth to serve, Rich now in knowledge, mem'ries and verve. We wish to thank this school of schools For having taught us the golden rule, We know what's ahead and we're ready to face The faults and weakness of the human race. Our three years here we would not trade For they're full of memories that will not fade: The quad in the spring-our clubs one and all- The cheering at football games in the fall, Our lunch in the caf -the Friday night dances- The passing of classes-the latest romances. But now we are parting and going our ways, Here's luck to us all for the rest of our days.
