OYS' SPORTS SOCCER Our class has always been more or less athletically inclined In our freshman year we had two participants on the soccer team, Roger Pascale and Ralph Murphy The next year Alec Lolas and Henry Gauthier played with the soccer eleven in addition to Pascale Each year we seemed to have more boys partlcipatin , for in our junior yeas, b ld b there was Foley and class was and Foisy playing Pascale, Lolas, and authier again, es es o Bert Jacobs Even in this, our last year, the wellrwpresented with Pascale Lolas Gauthier, Monson's soccer team has always been one of which to be proud This is because the boys have had a fl hting spirit and have been coached by Coach Moriarty ring our four years of high school, we have entered four tournaments, and advanced as far as the semi finals three times BASKETBALL Not only were we proud of our soccer team but also of our basketball During our freshman and sophomore years Alec Lolas was our only participant, but the boys became more sports Alec Lolas, seniors the Bert Jacobs minded in their Junior year, and Roger Pascale, and Gerold Tucker represented the class As lettermen were Lolas, Tucker, Bob Jacobs, and We entered two basketball tournaments held at the Uni year when we were defeated 51 this year We played Chester records showed that we should 98 by Chester, and the second again, but even though the have won, we came back to Monson on that fatal night with saddened hearts, for Chester had beaten us again by a slim margin of 44-41 BASEBALL When spring came around many tried out for the baseball team Those who made the team were Pascale, Lolas, and F03-BY The same three played during our sophomore year, but in our Junior year the lettermen were Pascale, Lolas, Foisy, Carpen ter, Bob Jacobs and Bert Jacobs This year was much the same with the exception of Pascale, who left to join the Air Force In losing Pascale, Monson catchers, but we still had the 15017, Bob Foisy who was always ing batters Not only in baseball, but they participated, the boys pu High lost one of the best pitching end of the bat effective against oppos in each sport in which t forth their best ef forts Whether they were victorious or defeated they always showed the best sportsmanship ' I I 0 - .9 versity of Massachusetts, the first one in our sophomore , O . - -
