Under the tutelage of Mr. C. Dmmcan Yetman and Mr. Arthur J. Martellucci, the talented newsmen around the campus were given an oppor- tunity to display their literary talents. Gossip, sports and social events usually headlined the paper, while several exclusives were also rolled off the press. The seniors who wrote for five issues were well-rewarded at the end of the year, receiving gold pins with the inscription The Monson Spirit. THE ACADEMY MASQUERS The Academy Masquers inaugurated the1r thlrd theatrlcal year w1th the productlon of 3 One act Plays These plays were Uln The Zone,U WCurses, The V11la1n Is Fo1led,U and WDress Reversal U The purpose of these plays was to establlsh a reputatlon for thls year's group and also to dlscover any hldden talent for actlng among the student body Immedlately after these plays, plans were made for the sprlng show Ulhe Man Who Came To Dlnneru was chosen for thls occaslon It was glven on Aprll 22nd and was well recelved by the audlence clab also made a substantlal proflt whlch w1ll a1d next year's group ln flnanclng thelr productlons Barry Beckw1th of the Junior Class starred 1n the role of Sherldan Wh1t6Sld6 Mhlte 1de's pretty secretary, haggle Cutler, was ably portrayed by Mrs H1318 J Reed Others ln the cast lncladed Raymond Pauze, Ralph hall, Stephen O'Hara, Theodore Otls, Davld bebold, Ph1l1p Schlmmel, W1ll1am Gaanebln, stuart Coolbroth, Robert Meacham, Peter Grlswold, Elrl Francls, btephen Keith, Joseph blowlck, Sldney Letter and Willlam Llttlefleld The Club was ably gulded 1h 1ts act1v1t1es by three faculty members Mr Borlen d1d a flne job of dlrection, Mr Yetman super v1sed the reallstlc stage settlngs, and Mr Lawton contributed pro 19SS1OD8l make up work lhe stave managlng was done by John Parser, asslsted by Rlchard JaS1HSkl, hdward Foley, Davld Grlswold, Albert Perry, Andrew Townend and Lyman Mix The Masquers contrlbuted many hlgh llghts to The Academy year All connected w1th the club engqyed the productlons and felt that they had galned valuable experlence WINTER DANCE COH ITTEE A splendld w1nter dance was held 1h holmes Gymnaslum on the lOth of February, 1950 A local orchestra provlded excellent dance muS1C, and coloriul decoratlons of blue and whlte streamers adorned the walls and Celllng of the gym Dur ng lHtGTmlSSlOD, the Refreshment Commlttee, under the dlrectlon of Milton Andrews, served whlle several students provlded varled enter talnment Thls dance was consldered a huge success by all who attended 1 . . . . . o . . .
