How- ever, we have six members of last year's team, N. Carlson, H. Carlson, Flynn, K. Shaw, F. Bidwell, S. Pendleton, who will form the nuceleus of this year's team. The vacancies caused by graduation will probably be capably filled by such new material as Cobb, Locke, Nolen, McClellan, Flynt, and Ellis. We are glad to state that Mr. Benton is again going to devote his time to coaching the team. ln view of the fact that the majority of the team is composed of veterans, hopes are high for a most successful season. B-4' ' v Qi BASKETBALL--Continued E57 W0 I Q won away from home. This game was of a mediocre sort, the score being at half time Q ,Q 7-5 in Wilbraham's favor. Then, as usual, the team came out at the beginning of the Q second half and did play a little basketball to win the tilt 18-14. Nevertheless it was Q our first victory away from home and the school realized it, as they were given a QF Roman Holiday on the afternoon after the victory, Wednesday. 'Log IG As the team had held the Deerfield team down pretty well, when they invaded the l Holmes Gymnasium, it was felt that they would bid fairer than the last two basket- Q, Q ball teams of the new school had done at Deerfield. Althouigh there was not much im- C 6 provement over the other bids, the team deserves a great eal of credit in putting up E13 I such a fight to a team that could easily win by a score of 54-20. Q With two men on the bench for studies and sickness, Monson stepped out of the QP Y Pre and High School rank and played the Monson Cardinals, a town team, who E3 IQ!!! took us into camp by a score of Z8-16. Another fine game was the second American International College game played at Qi Q the Monson Gym. The team showed that they had enough left for the second half as 'P Q51 they broke a dead lock at the half way mark of 16-16 to win by a score of 37-27. Q3 Last year the team had been beaten by Suffield School by a very small margin, so Q, this ear's team went out to aven e it. B ver ood laying the team beat them 30-19, Y g Y Y g CF 1 thus playing the last game ofthe season, as it prove to be on account of sickness. The W I6 game that was due to be played the next week in Suffield would have been a very Q close one, the winner unknown until the last whistle had been blown. It-QE The team was led in points by Syd. Carsley who scored 111 points. Next came lp 55.51 Cobb, who had been out a few games, with 55 points. These, with the other letter l ' P37 Q men went to make up the 235 points that the Monson team ran up against their Op- Q, U ponents 255. P 3 The entire sciuad is very grateful for the never-failing efforts of Mr. Conrad. Also IFE I6 they are thankfu to the parents who made the new uniforms possible. The letter men Q feel that a word of praise is due the men who came out to practice every day and thereby Qt 1 gave the opposition necessary for the formation of a strong team.
