However, it is important to note that the team got off to a slow start, but later re-grouped in time to make the playoffs. To the surprise of many, excluding themselves and their illustrious coach, the team defeated All Hollows in the first round of the playoffs. In the second round Stepinac acquired an early eighteen point lead, but the little Lions, showing some character coming back to within four before bow- ing out. RREL '91 5 The Junior Varsity Basketball Team had yet another successful season. In Brother Jeffrey Oxx's premier season asjunior varsity coach the team compiled an impressive record of 13 wins and 3 losses in league play and an overall record of 15 wins and 6 losses. However, in the first round of the CHSAA Playoffs the young lions dropped a heartbreaking two-point decision to Cardinal Hayes. During the regular season Brother Oxx relied on Andy Grosso, John Durry and Vin DiPilato to score the bulk of the points, while guards Tony Esposito and Joe Redington took turns running the show. A key factor in the team 's high winning percentage was the well-rounded play of Pete Wersching and Tony Petrosini. These two players adapted to each game and fulfilled the team's particular needs. When these players needed a break Brother Oxx had, at his fingertips, capable reserves. These reserves included centers, Dave Guido and Bob Roesch, forwards Eric Wright and Dan Muraca and guards Sean McCaffrey and John Wilson. This season would not have been successful, if not for the fine effort of the flamboyant moderator Lou Bamonte. 7

type of ball, while also spurring on their teammates. When these players needed a break Coach Martin looked to his vibrant bench and found the following capable reservesg forwards Kenny Campbell, Ed Sita, guards Billy Kelly, Jimmy Wallace, Mike Fenelli and John Pandolfino. The entire season would not have been possible without the guidance of Brother Oxx and the extraor- dinary moderating talents of Coach Lou Baldassano.
