They - began the year with a ten game winning V streak, and ended the season with an 18-5 ' record and a berth in the C.H.S.A.A. City Playoffs. This was an impressive start for Coach Bob Besignano who took over the reins ofthe Var- sity Basketball team this year. The team consisted of Seniors: Steve Certo, Garrett Dolan, Tom Curtis, Bob Fisher, Mike Olivieri, and Joe Delsante. Along with Ju- niors: Thom Trezza, Glen Mauriello, Paul Carroll, Mike Borik, Mike Zona, Richie Lee, and Dan Swanson the team was quite impressive. Although the club 's success was a team effort Seniors Bob Fisher and Tom Curtis led the way. Bobby, the starting point guard capped off a superb season by being named to the Staten Island Advance All-Star Team.Tom, along with Bobby averaged more than twenty points per game, just missed making the All-Star team, but received Honorable Mention. The team hopes to return next year and capture the S.I.H.S.L. Champi- onship. A

,Mm -GNN FROSH CROSS COUNTRY Br. William Stoldt's Freshman Cross Country Team enjoyed a consistent season throughout. The team was powered by the 1- 2 punch of Tony Fioto and Tyrone Sergio. These two were backed up by the rest of the A team which consisted of Mike Wieland, Jim Serpi, Jeff Curtachio, Kevin Haggerty, and Ken Villafranca. The B team also enjoyed a successful season as they were led by Ed Belic, John Antonelli, Vin Bamundo, Bill I-Ioddard, Mark Grella, Dave Cutolo, Bill Kelly, Mike Pacchla, Mark Dames, Don Ressensohn, Tom Foley, Jack Schultz, and Charles Cregin. The team showed their power as they captured third at the Westlake Invitational, third at the Iona College Meet, second at the Manhattan College Meet, second in the Sectionals, fifth in the City Championships, and went on to the Island Champion- ship powered by Tony Fi0to's first place performance, Ty Sergio's fourth place finish, and Kevin Haggerty's ninth place finish, Jeff Curtachio's fourteenth place finish, and Jim Serpi, Ken Villa- franca, and Mike Wieland rounded out the A team 's Champion- ship: while Ed Bellc's first place performance led the B team which was rounded out by Don Ressensonh's second, John An- tonelli's fourth, Marc Grella's fifth, and Vin Bamundo's sixth, Bill Hoddard's seventh, Bill Kelly's eighth, Mark Dame's ninth, and Charles Cregin's tenth place, Bill Hoddard
