Super Serwke In the Spring, the sportlite is focused upon the asphalt launching pad. Here, under the guiding hand of coach Father McGettigan, hopes of attaining a second consecutive Catholic League Championship are rising. A blistering serve, a powerful drive, and good court strategy are the keys to success on the tennis court. Bob Scott and George McGuire are the tean1's prize maqueteers. With their aid, Fr. McGettigan is confident the team will come out on top. CHARGED PARTICLES-Co-captains Bob Nelson and Joe Vandergast ready themselves for the start of a race. Matching each other stride for stride throughout the season, these stars blazed the track teum's path around the track world. After probing the upper atmosphere of the Catholic League standings for years, the 1962 Track team seems to have the thrust needed to take it ncar the top of the competition. Again supplying the impetus are coach Dixie Dunbar and Moderator Rev. Bernard Dunleavy, O.S.A., who await the championships with an air of optimism. Many experienced lettermcn are re- turning. Among these are Bill Torpey, Joe Bracken, Jim Vandergast, and Bob Nelson. Strong track teams are a tradition at Bonner, and this year should be no exception. POWER-PACKED-1Standing! Soccer The soccer team, although not the most heralded V sport in Bonner, took on an added luster this year as it embarked on a campaign of six consecutive victories during the second half of the season. A determining factor in this successful effort was the addition of soccer to the intramural sports program. To the surprise and delight of the school, this per- severing team soared to unprecedented heights. Nick Flano, Captain, deserves special Commendation as the most valuable player. To the Coach, Mr. Lou Piaeelli, goes most of the credit for the soccer team's emergence as a winning combination in the period of a few short years. NICK FLANO, an exchange student from Chile and a member of the All-Catholic soccer team, gets off a sharp pass to a teammate in a game against Bishop Neumann. The hooters failed to taste victory in this game, how- ever, suffering a loss by a single point.
