Consistently placing in the top five, he made a big contribution to Bonner s triumphant season. ESCAPE VELOCITY-This year's team exhibited a high spirit and never-say- diem attitude. Here Charlie Dooley and Bill Torpey lead a procession of tired harriers at the homestretch in one of their dual meets. These two fine athletes showed, throughout the whole season, the sportsmanship typical of our cross country team. ULTRASONIC SPEED-Jerry Nicastro, Bill Salmon, Bob Nelson, Barney Ber- nard, Charlie Dooley, and Bill Torpey accelerate quickly at the start of a race. Always giving their best for Bonner, these runners illustrate the undying spirit characteristic of Bonner competitors.

Rockeflhg Along . The 1961 Cross Country team, a fine blending of experienced lettermen with untested under- classmen, turned out to be just the right mixture as the team finished the season among the top four contenders in the Catholic League. Much of their success was due to the coaching of Mr. Dixie Dunbar, whose knowledge in all phases of running was utilized continually. Sparking the team were Captain Barney Bernard, Greg Dun- bar, and Bill Salmon. This fine trio helped to keep Bonner near the front of the competition in all of the meets. PROPULSION SYSTEM-Setting a blistering pace, Bon- ner s 'big three, Dixie Dunbar, Bill Salmon, and Barney Bernard, head the field in a thrilling meet against West Catholic. The two best times of the year were turned in by Salmon and Bernard. Dixie Dunbar's performances won for himself a place among the best 10 runners in the Catholic State Championships.
