SPACE GLIDE-Soph-to-watch Frank Guerin deposits a deuce against Ro- man Catholic. Sophomores Guerin, Kroppe and Schaefer carry the hopes of Friar rooters for future years. Their great record and unlimited potential is a prediction of great basketball teams in the years to come. LIQUID' PROPELLED-Pat Carroll, Jayvee star and Varsity substitute, drihbles by a Roman Catholic defend- er. Carroll, Guerin, and Kroppe owned the backboards in almost all their games. The team had the enviable rec- 1 ord of 10-4, their first defeat coming in an overtime loss to St. James. ll' fle Diapers SPACE GUN-Talented sophomore Mike Schaefer looks for a shot in a game against Bishop Neumann. Mike, John Lawlor, and Bill Salmon shared backcourt duties, while Pat Carroll, Norm Kroppe, Pat McCrea and Frank Guerin rounded out the forward positions.

remaining, could possibly become the best swim- FLIGHT READINESS-National Catholic High School Champion in the butterfly, Terry Hagan leaves Hutchinson Pool with a triumphant air. A leading swimmer since his Freshman year, Terry continually broke records throughout 1962. Many of the great victories of the year were made possible by the important contributions of this tal- ented athlete. STABILIZED PLATFORM-Carl Rohie, win- ner of national acclaim, is shown after leading his teammates to victory in the City Champion- ship meet with Northeast Public. A world rec- ord holder in the 200 yard butterfly, Carl is a likely prospect for the 1964 Olympics. Cer- tainly the best swimmer ever to swim under the Friar emblem, Carl, with a year of eligibility HONEST JOHN-.lack Coldschmidt, one of the leading mermen on the Bonner swim- ming team, has been a standout performer. This fine athlete is a member of the record- breaking relay team, and he also swims a fast fifty-yard freestyle. His smiling face would be an asset to any team, for it is the symbol of his undying spirit and his friendly personality. mer in his age group in the world. Ignited by their hopes of attaining a third consecutive National Catholic Championship, the rncrmen of Bonner completely outclassed every team in the city. Starving for real competition, they used these meets as testing grounds for both their potential and established performers. ln the last four years Bonner Swimming Teams have accrued the sparkling record of fifty-three straight Catholic League wins. Splash-down occurred on February 16, 1962, as Coach Frank Keefe and company exuberantly set a course for Villanova and the Championships. Propelled by NCAA record-holder, Carl Robie, they re- turned home victorious. A great deal of credit mu-st be given to Mr. Keefe, who in his debut as coach played an important role in the climax of this spectacular season.
