DECELERATION-.Dick Stanton, hard driver and accurate jump shooter, fakes a pass in a game against Bishop Neumann. Dick's all-around ability earned for him Honorable Mention on the All-Cathglic team. EXTRA LIFT-Sparkplug Mike Schanne, excellent guard and potent outside shooter, exhibits his unorthodox jump shot against St. Thomas More. Well-respected throughout the league for his ability. Mike was named second string All- Catholic. Although advance publicity pro- claimed its probable landing -spot to be at the playoffs, the Friar quintet lacked the experience and height of a cham- pionship team. While their 6-8 record was not excep- tional, it does not disclose the heart- breaking setbacks which the team suf- fered. The true potential of this talented aggregation never appeared, but, occa- sionally, it shone through in brilliant play. Upsets of LaSalle and West Cath- olic and a surprise to St. .l0seph's Prep attest to the fierce determination of the Bonner quintet. Included in the starting lineup were Bill Campbell, Chuck Mc- Kenna, Dick Stanton, Mike Schanne, and Charlie Mullery. When holding down starting positions, Captain Bob Nixon and Fran Murray lifted the spirit of the entire team. Tracking stations throughout the area confirm the fact that, while Bonner was often outscored, it was never outfought. globe frorfers I NUCLEAR PROPULSION- Stick Mc- Kenna, the tallest man on the team and a revelation in the pivot, tries to shoot over Marty Ford of West Catholic. His scoring rampages during mid-season games were given recognition by an Honorable Men- tion spot on the All-Catholic squad. PROJECTILE-Charlie Mullery attempts a layup in a game against Father Judge. In the games that Charlie started, he exhibited a smooth jump shot and an ability to foil the 0pp0sition's scoring threats.
