nkvhg to ffze cfmllenge RHETORICAL TECHNICIANS-The 1962 Austins, equipped with their boundless knowl- edgc and eloquent orations, have continued to uphold the outstanding achievements of their predecessors at Bonner. Pictured above are: fleft to righti, Larry Haverty, Bill McCune, Mr. Charles Vogel, Moderator, Mr. John Rao, assistant moderator, Brad Barry and Bob Moore. PLANNING THE STRATEGY-Mr. Charles Vogel and Mr. .lohn Rao, moderators of the Austins, point out the strategy which will be utilized for an oncoming tournament. Looking on with interest are Bill McCune and Larry Haverty, two seniors who have consistently earned laudable recognition for their fine per- formances in the Catholic League Debating Tourneys. Soaring to the apex of fame is the chief goal of every Bonner activity. The one organization that has consistently achieved stardom has been the Debating Society. To their competitors the Bonner debaters have afforded fierce competi- tion, and in the majority of the debates the opposition has felt the scourge of Bonner triumphs. Under the command of Mr. Charles Vogel and Mr. John Rao. the Austins have projected themselves as the leading contenders for the Na- tional Tournament in Miami.

alma' 0ff NAVIGATION PLAN-Preparation for the 'Bonner Band Concert begins immediately after the close of the football season. Here, Father Duffy, moderator, and clarinetist Joe Smith watch as the musical director, Mr. .lohn Dough- erty, interprets several difficult measures of music. The Band is fortunate to possess such a competent training officer to guide it to musical perfection. One of the main reasons for the sky-rocketing school spirit that has prevailed over the past few years has been the Bonner Marching Band. The many fine performances launched from Pad 62 by the Band at various social functions have gained for it a place of high standing in the minds of the students and faculty at Bonner. Under the direction of Mr. John Dougherty and the guidance of its moderator, Rev. David Duffy, O.S.A., the 1962 music men have distin- guished themselves as a highly skilled and ver- satile organization. DIRECTIONAL SYSTEM-Under the baton of Mr. Dougherty, the Band rehearses for the annual concert. The excellent performance of the Band is the result of the skill and patience its dedicated leader displays in molding these amateur musicians into an organization of professional-like quality. VANGUARD-Following in the footsteps of the color guard, the Bonner Marching Band blasts onto the field to commence the half-time festivities. Under the leader- ship of its captain, Jim Kerrigan, the color guard has become one of the best known but perhaps the least applauded of the campus activities. Few people realize the amount of work necessary to perfect the maneuvers executed by the drill team.
