SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES-Jim Malone, Charlie Odg- ers and Ed Millison display their firing position. With steady hands and sharp eyes they await the command to fire. Their sights set on the stars, the Bonner riflemen confidently await all opponents. Led by a corps of experienced Seniors, they feel sure of success on the rifle range. The marksmen are confronted with a drawback in that they are not equipped with a range for practice. Despite this handicap, they are stars in the ascendant. Moderator and coach, Fr. Spinelli, employs the talents of these Bonner men to the utmost. With such spirit and determination prevalent, success cannot elude the grasp of the Bonner rifle team. BONNER'S RIFLEMEN--Standing: W. DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE is where the crew meets daily for its practice sessions. Neither rain nor sleet nor snow could keep these oarsmen from making their bid for a spot on the varsity eightf' Mr. Mattson fstandingl carefully and skillfully selects the boys with the most spirit and talent. Down at the Schuylkill Playhouse the crew team presents their annual water festi- val. Skipper George Mattson whips up the enthusiasm of his troupe to row down their mirrored stage. The return of a victorious .I.V. team, promises to turn the tide for this year's up-and-coming varsity. The smooth stroking comes through long hours of stren- uous navigation on the rippling river. Tem- perature and weather conditions introduce hardships during early practice. Chris Mattson, by reason of his fully ripened talent and consistent effort was pre- eminent this year.
