Mike TALL MAN-At 6'5 Mike McGough employed his height to outjump the best in the league. His finest hour came at the Palestra against Cardinal Dougherty when he scored 16 points and pulled down more than his share of the rebounds. THE VIKING-This title depicts the fiery, never-say-die spirit prevalent in the play of Eric Erickson. In the Playoffs against Cardinal Dougherty, Erie led the team by pouring in 20 points. BOMBER BOB-Captain of this year's squad, Bob DeFino led the team to the Palestra with a 20.5 point average. His 33-point effort against Bishop Neumann in the last game of the season was the greatest perfor- mance of his high school career. Undaunted by pre-season predictions, the '61 Bonner hoopsters once again climbed to the top of the Southern Divi- sion in the Catholic League. Only a de- feat by a spirited Cardinal Dougherty five prevented the Friars from repeating last year's championship performance. Their success is a credit to the fine Work of coach Tom Sabol, who with only one starter returning from last year, built up a Well-balanced, highly-spirited team. Veteran Bob DeFino captained them to an 11-3 record. Eric Erickson, McG0ugh, Mike McCurdy and Mike Manning rounded out the starting five. The valiant determination, which they displayed while battling to the finals, earned them the admiration and gratitude of the entire school. THE COOL 0NE4Always calm but always alert, Mike Manning displayed the finesse necessary for a good forward. TALL if WW MR. DEFENSE-This is the name given to backcourt ace, Mike Mc- Curdy. Always on the alert for a stray enemy pass, Mike constantly broke up the offensive efforts of the opposing team.

'WNV' Wllzl LW!!! tl' Ml IEUILLYH 3.1! YOU DID IT! NO, YOU DID IT!-Both Burr defenders play the part of the innocent hystander, while sandwiching the Friars' Dick Stanton. However, Dick's foul shooting proved deadly and the Friars beat West, 55 to 46. bone 353'-scifi SMILE, DARN YOU, SMILE-Bob DeFino finds th it it's hard to smile with a defender so close behind him His consistent high scoring combined with his topnotch rebounding earned him the distinction ol' making first team All-Catholic. THE VARSITY DRAG-The quick hands of Mike McCurdy prepare to intercept a pass intended for the be- wildered Pirate. Although not a top scorer, Mike made many assists which enabled his fellow teammates to roll up the score. DON'T FENCE ME IN seems to be the tune on Bob DeI7ino's mind. How- ever, opposing players never, kept Bob corralled very long, for he always managed to find a teammate close at hand to help him out.
