'VII . 7'0lf6'll00W!V Once again the Friar gridders have proven them- selves a power to be reckoned with in the Catholic League. Although edged from the title race by a loss to La -Salle, they finished the season with a respectable 6-2-1 record. Hard as it is to justify praise for individual achieve- ment on a team with so many outstanding players, some stars deserve special comment. Chappie Moore received the Most Valuable Player award, which he earned through his fine blocking and defensive play. Guard Jerry Metcalf, halfback Russ Hendricks, and hard-hitting defensive lineman A1 Atkinson were named to the first team of the All-Catholic squad. These are but a few of the boys who made the season successful. The great work of the defensive unit is exemplified by its outstanding performance against West Catholic in which the Friars battled the Burrs to a 14-14 deadlock. The success of the 1960 season is a credit to the hard work of the team and to the fine leadership of Coach Jack Ferrante.
