Pre-season speeulation on the Bonner campus rated the Friar quintet as one of unpreeedented excellence in the annals of our school. Nevertheless. our season was something less than medi- ocre as our hoopsters eoinpiled a 6 win. 8 loss league record. This comparatively uuimpressiye reeord is not indieative of the teaunis ability. for in pre-season serinnnages and games and during the season the Friars showed sparks of brilliant potential. The spark never did grow to a fire and for the whole season the Friars remained ehampions in potential only. Rebounding strength hit a new high through the fine under- the-boards work of Bob Waltz. .lim Doherty and Pat Traynor. The lint' haelxeourt shooting of Frank Coraee and the slielc ball handling of l'aul Gallagher seemed to give the Friars an almost unbeatable eomhination of board strength and seoring power. Talented llil1'lit'0lll'l reserves suell as ,lelli Yarbrough. Riell Hadziak. liuteh hYllllt'!'lD0ll0lIl and Mike lleflrory eagerly left the heneh in the eanse of vietory. Sparkling performanees turned in by sueh fronteourt substitutes as Soph Bob DeFino and .lunior llud lfllonnell merited for them starting positions in the last few games of the season. Combine these returnees with those coming up from the ,layvees and you have a formula which should delinitely bring sueeess for the Friars in the ,60 season. U K , -5f n,,,4ili' N . Zvi , I TOM SABOL radiates the enthusiasm which makes him the Friars' devoted eoaeh. TWO BY TWENTY-TWO Pat Traynor soars high to register a deuee in the St. James game. l'at's driving ability and frequent goals brought many cheers from the Booster Club. ESCAPE' Bob Wlaltz neatly worked his way out of this tight spot in the West game. In situations like this Bob's sceret weapon was the springs in his shoes.
