Student Court Hear ye! Hear ye! The court is now in session, shouts Bailitf Hardiman Cureton. Every Wednesday dur- ing sixth period the Student Court met to pass sentence on student law breakers. Working with the Commissioners, Chief Justice John Woehler and Justices Tom Lewis, Stan Zimmerman, Donna Smith, and Joanne McLachlan, with the assistance ot Morlene Pingle, endeavored not only to punish offenders but to educate them in the rules and regulations ot M.A.D. Presidents Joy Hyder and Mary Beth Overman presided over the club at its edu- cational and social activities, including serv- ing at faculty teas and at the new Future Teachers of America tea. Speech Arts The Speech Arts Club was organized fort the purpose of developing the art of public speaking. Each member shows his Cicero- nian ability by giving orations at the meet- ings. Weather Bureau M.A.D.'s Student Weather Bureau under the guidance of Mr. Charles Dunson has become one of the best equipped high school weather bureaus in Southern Cali- fornia. President Tom Jepson and Vice- President Bill Cordon led this group, the members of which were selected from the outstanding physics students who showed an interest in meteorology. ln addition to taking field trips and hav- ing in several outside speakers, the budding prognosticators have made daily forecasts, based on hourly readings of hygrodeiks, anemometers, barometers, thermographs, rain gauges, and much other complex equip- ment found in the office of the bureau in the Science Building.
