SENIOR CLASS HISTORY It was in the fall of '43 When we walked through the doorg The number of pupils was 23g We were met by Miss Stegemoller. There are only seven of those kids left, But we've gained that many, and more. In the first, our schedule was mighty full, The second, though, was rather dull. The third was hep: The fourth was jive. The fifth, we really got alive. They split us up by alphabet, First half to Crowe, the rest to Jet. In some girl's seat, Dave placed a tack. Allene hit Judy with a baseball bat. The rivalry was high, as we could see When Crowe's room won the spelling bee. Phe sixth was together again. We recall the tales that Finchum could spin. We got five boys on the Junior High team, They weren't too hot. but were full of steam. Then we made the jump to Highg For a sponsor, Shuler was a real swell guy. Donald Crews got a new pair of glasses, But it didn't help Breezy get to his classes. Our class got bigger then, fthat fallj When all those roughnecks came from Hall. We liked Hinshaw, nobody thought he was diPPy. And we sure did hate it when Paul moved to Mississippi. In the eighth, we made that zlg-zag joumey To go to Eminence to play in their toumey. Belle Union fell from our powerful attack. But confidentially, fliminence set us backy As freshmen, we were as green as a gourd, And weahad to keep watch for the seniors' board We had a new sponsor in '51, And Hank Tropp was a lot of fun. Our slogan was VOTE FOR JEAN, And she got it: Freshman Halloween Queen. Long bus rides didn't make us sick. We had anall day party at McCormick's Krick. As sophs, we were going up in the world. Though in Geometry class, our heads were in a whirl. Hank let the hair grow down his neck, And we got the Indian back from Tech. In the eleventh year we worked quite hard To make money on magazines and Xmas cards And a little more that would come in handy We made off ice-cream, cokes, and candy. I'm sure that none was given free Cause we had 800 bucks in our treasury, There's just 19 that will graduate And most of us can hardly wait For Brown to sign that piece of paper So we can cut our' last big caper You'll probably think that we're insane When we.climb aboard that choo-choo train But ha-ving fun is not a crime And we're going to have a grand old time.
