The action shows end runs in the T- Birds victory over Western Oaks. Football Team Compiles Outstanding Record Monroney's talented Thunderbirds finished their season with a fine 6-1-1 record and the co-championship of the Central Jr. High Conference. Coach George Ivie's squad lost only to Moore, tied Putnam Hefner and also went undefeated in the annual Round Robin. Leading the scoring for the T-Birds for the third straight year was halfback Johnny Johnson. Running behind good blocking by Larry Murphy and Tom Hesser, Johnson stung opposing defenses for 18 TD's and three extra points for 84 of the team's 170 points. Halfbacks Bob Suellentrop and Hollie Hamilton counted with 38 and 32 points re- spectively. Murphy and end Richard Gaylor rounded out the scoring. QB Terry Wittner completed three touchdown passes. Ends Pat Hanes and Jack Lackey, tackles Paul Burris and Randy Boswell, guards Tom Hesser and Barry Price, center Tim Kerlin and defensive aces Otis Wokaty and Mike Eagan all played vital roles in the T-Birds successful season. Randy Boswell was elected by the team as captain, while the pep club selected Hollie Hamilton as 1966 Football Beau. Escorts were Larry Murphy and Johnny Johnson.

Eighth Graders Finish Season, 4-2-I HALFBACK BOB SUELLENTROP Shows the Speed and power which enabled him to chalk up good yardage from the line of scrimmage. Suellentrop divided his playing between 8th and 9th grade teams. After a year's retirement, Coach Al Bag- ley returned to direct the T-Bird 8th graders to a 4-2-1 record. Coach Bagley had high praise for his team's determination and spirit, and said a strong defense was the key to their suc- cess. l-lalfback David Rominger was the team 's leading scorer followed by Bob Suellentrop who spent most of the year on the freshman team. Terry Wright and Johnny Clemons quarterbacked the team to their fine season. Steve Moore and Danny Looney played in the offensive back field. Defensive standouts were Jim Yonnes, Chuck Lackey, and Edwin McCombs. Seeing considerable action were John Coker and Gary Shumskie, endsg James Johnson and Rick Elli- son, tackles, Billy Mitchell and Mark Morgan, guards, Anthony Sardis was elected captain of the team.
