Ask any of these people, members of the Five Hundred Mile Club. Of course no one runs five hundred miles in a day, but by running a little each day it can be ac- complished. The club is now in its second year, being coached by Mr. Sheppard. Members are planning a camping trip to Mohican Park this summer for those who run five hundred miles by the end of the school year. Five hundred miles is a long way to run. It will take determination, perseverance, and plenty of ambition to reach that goal. uture Teachers of America BACK ROW: Tom Simon, Ted Haughawout, Tom Wendt, Don Ussleman, Debbi Krull, Randy Bores, Paul Schlessman, Sharon Schaffer, 2nd ROW: Shelia Schibly, Shelly Bliss, Sue Scherley, Ron Smith, Liz Martin, Laurie Watkins, Mary Lou Palmer, Linda Schaffer, Mary Miller, Delinda Karnehrn, FRONT ROW: Mr. Van Lerberge, Bruce Ebright, Lou Ann Davis, Roberta Janotta, Georgia Mowery, Cindy Wilson, Denise Bragg, Donna Ruffing, Jeanne Smith, Sue Hofacker julie and Cindy help Mr. V. back on his feet again! One of their activities was making Jane Heyrnan an Honorary member, another was going out to supper after a club meeting. The VIL's also sponsored a program by which each class got to pick a certain holiday to go over to Vanson's for lunch. They also prepared a VIL's datebook, which is a bulletin board with all the school activities on it for each month. VIL members having fun at Vanson's. Miss Payne our advisor. The first and most important area of evaluation is that of scholarship, seventy percent of the decision is based on the st'udent's grade average. The selection of a member is also based on his leadership in classroom and school activities, his character, and his service to others. At 7:30 p.m. on january 6, 1975, new members were inducted in a candlelighting ceremony, attended by their parents. Members and their parents were also invited to the Honor's Banquet, held May 14. These students have attained a high honor in being chosen as Honor Society Members. They are to be com- mended for possessing such high qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. 42 57 ffm Scholarship Leadership Charac ter Serv ice juniors inducted in 1975 Seniors serve rehash ments following in- duction ceremony 43 Student Council this year is better than ever. L The Seventh Graders experienced a change this year when they advanced from the sixth to the seventh grade. It is a big step going from the elementary to the Junior I-Iigh level This year they changed classes and became more aware of their new freedoms. The are going on to bigger and better things. They may only be starting out now, but watch them go! F3,,i,,.. ,, Seventh Grade B7 t . ,I N ' 1- xt. Y 'Y ,,., . 2 - W s S S f , at fs A at Ii W 1, for 'Ag' N -1-1? -af 1 if ' 'I ' YV! I . There Were the usual mixed , and the choosing of high school courses, but this class experienced even more. For instance, the class was one of the first to elect officers and student council repre- sentatives as eighth graders. Members of the eighth grade class have really stepped up this year. They can look back on their years in elementary, but ahead of them lies even more. - Don Gravenhorst Jon Grendow joe Hamilton Terri Haynes l ff ' 1 , 47 . . .lr l L T 1 XI 5 . ,w-4-.Mm 4 I 1 1 t. y xi W' X 'V xx' -:em I rrpjv f 'Y xv!
