Ray Joyner, Robert Barnes: THIRD ROW Billy Oakes. Vernon Bittner, Larry Malcom, Mr. DeLay, Richard Jones Vern Steward, Don Oakes. The Basketball team ended up with one of the most successful seasons in recent years. After having a three- way tie for the eounty championship and winning out in the plavofts thev won out Tftlclyvilie for the suhftlistriet title. The Monroe quintet then went on to take fourth in District 5-I1 tournament at Tiugene. The Dragons also eoppecl the annual Renton county jamhoree he shellaeingf Alsea anal I'hiIomath. The stluafl was lecl hx' four seniors, Captain Yern Ste- ward, Iliele jones, Vernon llittner and Larry Malcom, hut surprisingly enough there were very good prospects for next rear with exceptionally talented sophomores and freshmen. Two seniors, Center lliek jones and lforwartl, Yerit Steward were nominated to the .XII Star 3-ll lbistriet team.
