American Legion Award Greg Vinson Denise Stephens The winners of the American Legion Award represent the freshmen boy and girl who have the highest citizenship qualities and scholastic abilities. Greg Vinson and Denise Stephens were selected best qualified for this award. Monroe Creed I pledge myself, as a student of James Monroe Junior High School, to uphold and promote school spirit through good sportsmanship in all that I dog to cooperate fully with my fellow workers and do unto them as I expect them to do unto meg to do my very best in everything that I attempt and to expect no rewards when success is attainedg and, above all, I pledge to make of myself a better person through sincere leaming, high ideals, and good scholarship.

Masonic Award William Duke Robin Gillen The Masonic Award, presented each year to two freshmen, is based on outstanding patriotism and citizenship. Because of their outstanding qualifications William Duke and Robin Gillen were chosen from the freshman class to be presented with this honor. Danforth Award David Campbell Karen Lovelace Two freshmen students were chosen to receive the Danforth Award. This honor presented annually was given by the William Danforth Foundation. The recipients of this honor, David Campbell and Karen Lovelace, were nominated by teachers on the basis of their outstanding development in mental, physical, social, and spiritual growth while in junior high school. 87
