In October of 1966, thirty-five girls reported for practice. Always willing to put out 1102, they used Hustle as their trademark. During the 1966-1967 season, the forwards found the range for a 55.2 offensive average, one of the highest in M.H .S . 's history. The back court held their opponents to a 57 .6 points per game. The seasons record was 11-9, five of the nine losses being to State Tour- nament teams. Once again, the team was handicapped by lack of height, but the girls hustle and desire to win earned them a tie for 3rd place in the conference, the first and second places going to State Tournament teams. ROW 3: Vern Funk, Lloyd Van Wyk, Don Pendroy, John Ballenger, Doug Enyart, Larry Davis, Dick Miller, Coach I-iarter. Coach Dale Harter molded a team this year from boys lacking not only experience, but also height. However, their deter- mination and desire carried them through their season play. Co-captains Tom Munson and Denny Richardson provided fine leadership in the Wildcat vic- tories over Colfax, Pleasant- ville, and Baxter. The squad came back strong in the second half of the season, playing its finest games late in the year. The Wildcats were unfortunate in losing many close games. The underclassmen gained a great deal of experience this yearg We are certain that Monroe will have strong forces in the future.
