BUGLE -1927 THE CHEERLEADERS Never was the day so dreary or the fxeld so muddy that our exceptionally fme cheer leaders failed to get a hearty response from the crowds Monroe wlll lose thls year the best two cheerleaders ln the hlstory of the school Bob Bauer and Al Wagner They would be found at every field upon which Monroe played sometimes even attrred rn rub ber boots workmg loyally to extract cheers from the spectators The boys deserve much credlt for their work and certamly earned their M s BOYS INTERCLASS ATHLETICS Pl he juniors at present are seated securely m top posrtlon m Interclass Athletics wrth a total of 237' 2 pomts leading the Semors who hold second place by IOO points The Freshmen come third wrth l00 pomts to their credit won ln tug of war and gymnastics The Sophomores foot the llst wlth a smgle 50 point score won m free throws Seniors and unlors tled for honors rn basket ball whlle the Semors took first m kick ball Fxrst place xn gymnastlcs went to the ,Iumors The mam events yet to be run off are track playground ball and horseshoes r l , . v y - , . - - - - tr ,U y f X - u v - I I - - ' - , - .I v ' ' - . , .

BUGLE - 1927 GYMNASTICS Although every member of Monroe Hugh s gymnastrc team had had no prevrous ex perlence the local team was awarded thrrd place ln the gymnastic tournament held at Ypsrlantl The two local appearances of the team m the River Rouge basketball game and the Hlgh School Circus were very well recervecl The team rs composed of james Snyder Elwm Falk and Leslre McLaughl1n Charles Custer one of the stars of the team was unable to compete rn the state meet due to melrgrblllty All of the members of the team with the exceptron of Custer wrll return next year and rt rs hoped that therr addrtlonal experience will enable them to take state honors and return to Monroe the cup whrch was taken from Monroe and grven to Flrnt Hugh thrs year Ralph Hundley mellgrble to compete rn the meet served as clown at the two local exhlbrtrons of the team PYRAMID TEAM The Hrgh School Pyramid team made therr appearance at the crrcus and were well received The team executes ten drffrcult pyram ds rn perfect form The members are S Wagar C Gruber F Schatte P Hamrlton S Werss G Buyea A Wagner D Tedora C Schmidt A Duval K Duval H Bentley L Cooper T Keating H Durell and W Krrschnrlc A , . . 1 ' v v , . .
