--------------is 1f5uaIe-w--------------- IJlCl5.'X'1'I NG For the second time in the history of Moiiroe Higlfs debating activities ive were able to have one team for each side of the question. Although only one, Lucille Mahr, had had any previous experience, both teams did excellent work. Our Hrst debate was with our old enemy, Adrian. Monroe had the af- firmative side ofthe question: Resolved, that the Philippine Islands should have their immediate and complete independence, and won the debate by a decision of 2-I. The next time our team clashed minds with anyone was with NVyandotte. The affirmative team, composed of Arthur VVright, Eliza- heth Zabel and Dorothy Kaemlein, again proved superior to their opponents and won by a vote of 2-I. The next debate gave the negative team a chance to do their stuff. This team, composed of Arthur Wlright, Martha Lee Snider and Lucille Mahr, defeated licorsc 3fO. Hamtramck forfeited to Monroe, giving us another victory, 3-O. This record allowed us to enter the semi-hnals, but we could hardly be expected to cope with a team such as Northwestern of Detroit produces, and were defeated 3-O. Nevertheless, our coach, Mr. McKone, deserves praise for his efficient coaching, and M. H. S. feels that with all the debaters, except Martha Lee Snider and Lucille Mahr, returning next year, we will be able to excell the splendid record of this year. -------------M 1925 -----------------M -....
