.feaalcfa-lf It rs now 1999 and how the years have flown smce we spent those eventful days at Monroe Hugh' But thmgs have been gloomy recently for we are all homesick to see our dear classmates of 49 Why, what is happen1ng9 The clouds darken the wind howls thunder booms' Lightning streaks a message across the sky GOLD HAS BEEN DISCOVERED ON THE MOON' Here come some of our classmates now How news does travel' It looks like Paul Marshall and Bob Brasler those very successful farmers for the last fifty years Look at that beautiful Jet propelled covered wagon wrth Shucky Shnllmgburg pnlotmg and Bonnie Shmgledecker as hxs cute stewardess Another Gold Rush of the Forty nmers sees the crowd gathermg fast Phylhs Arnett chnef stenographer at Arnett Arnett, and Company comes rushmg in carrying her typewrxter Right behind her xs Gmny Moses who has had a very prosperous beauty salon Ah yes shes as pretty as ever Arvnlla Weaver rushes over to the wagon carrying a compass, a stack of books and a map Luckily for the crowd she has already figured out the shortest route to the moon Shucky prepares for the take-off and pilots the wagon very slullfully just as we are about to leave the ground we hear a weak little voice yell Walt for me' Someone gives a bug leap and lands m the middle of the crowd pantlng for breath To everyones surprise it xs quiet Donald Robert who never before has had much to say Suffermg wnth Breath loss ms he is soon comforted with the remedy of Stewardess Shmgledecker The remedy999 Moonshme' All of a sudden Dons hair begins to turn from silver to brown he loses has wrmkles hls false teeth are now hxs real ones-hes young agam' Seemg these results everyone aboard clamors for this pow erful moonshme What a happy crowd' We seem hke the old bunch of Monrovxans we used to know The wagon zooms upward After traveling several mxnutes we see a strange lookmg sight ahead Who in the world is that character sxttxng on a cloud and havmg all those children around him? Why we should have known' It IS Frank Shnvely tellmg those familiar tales about his Grandpa We stop for a quick chat with Frank who soon decides to go along for his share of the gold Farther along on the Journey there ns a sxgn on a star advertising some strange basketball teams Moon beams vs Mar Belles The passengers become inquisitive so they beg Shucky to stop a bxt to watch this mterestmg battle They arnve just m time to see the toss up Bets Shnlhngburg outjumps Lloyd Hensel, the tip- off goes to Hilda Larsh Larsh to Genny Schlosser' Schlosser passes to--Whoops' Ed Copp mtercepts Copp throws to Everett Henn Henn to Joe Lmdsey Lmdsey passes to Oran Caldwell its good' The Moonbeams lead 2 0 jame Bolen takes the ball out of bounds but the Moonbeams are guardmg heavily They cant get the ball Phyl Hawkeys open and 1t's good With the game tied the Mar Belle cheerleaders, Twxla Clemens and Dxxre Woga man grve a roaring yell But whats happening? Seemg us they soar right up to greet us The Moonbeams miss the Mar Belle cheerleaders you know how they always could attract those fellows and discovering where they ve gone both teams pursue them What excitement' From the crowd m the rear of the wagon comes a chorus of voices proclanmmg the news of the Gold Rush Paul Bob and no' It couldnt be but xt was Don Robert agam My how he has changed m fifty years' He talks The Moonbeams and the Mar Belles have all Jomed us now and what fun we have getting acquamted all over and rehashmg old times after all these years of separatlon. Although everyone xs talkmg at once we quickly become quiet as we feel a Jolt then we agam soar upward into the stratosphere Suddenly the wagon starts rocking' Have we hut air pockets? Now we begin losmg altitude float down on air currents and land on a cloud Our pilot ahghts and discovers that we are out of gas. Doesn't one of those Mar Belles have a gallon m her pocketbook'-' We search in hopes of finding a filhng station and there, half hidden amxdst the clouds rs our lxfe saver The proprletor strides toward us with a big smlle on his face Yes, Jack Cobb still has his curly halr' He fills our tank with Bessy gas Cnamed after the great granddaughter of the well known Ethyl J We give Jack an mvxtatxon to Join us, and once agam we head for our destination the gold mfested moon By this trme day is drawmg to a close and stardust covers the clouds, creatmg a beautiful sparklmg, shrm mermg settmg It is a perfect scene for a dancmg ballerina and to our wandering eyes, there appears just that Bev Fark sways gracefully among the clouds before an audnence of thousands who sigh rn awe of her talent We stop to watch for awhile and when she sees us she screams her greeting H1 Kids' and runs toward us with tears of Joy m her eyes, for she hasnt seen us for many years Atmospheric condrtzons and the youth recapturmg moonshme have kept all of our sky resldmg friends young Now we begm to see the moon nn the drstance What a wonderful sight' As we near xt, there appears a beau txful hotel, The Golden Castle, managed by none other than the dxstrngurshed Rolan VanAusdal. He let us old friends have the best rooms nn the hotel--on the house As we proceed toward the ballroom, we pass a lovely dress shoppe Admmng the fashions, we enter to view more A charming young lady approaches us, and who should xt be but Doris Coffman!
