The graduating class of 1940, which is now well scattered over the world and have developed their talents to a large extent, will be this news report as the flashes begin to roll into Station MHS. , , , Battle Creek Sanitarlum: eDr. G. L. Shaffer today announced that the sanitarium staff had discovered a way to combat laziness in high school students. This new discovery is expected to revolutionize the high school scholastic records of the nation. Grand Cannon City: Word has been received here that Miss Kathryn Duffield, famed metropolitan opera star, who formerly lived at West Manchester, will broadcast tonight over Station XYZ. She will sing UCermen.U Des Moines, Iowa: The annual convention of the Windy Liars Club is in session here this week. President Miss Jeanette Royer, who won the prize last year for telling the biggest lie, is presiding over the meeting. Lazy Jim Day has recently given his place on the radio to her. This club has the largest membership- of all clubs of international scope. Paris: Madam Bett'e Chellis, world's foremost designer of dog' clothing, announces that she will enter the field of designing for men's and women's clothing next fall. It is predicted that her styles will make such drastic change that there will be an international business boom because everyone will have to have complete new outfits. Yale: William Alphonso Sink, A. B. and B. S., coach of the Yale football squad, announced here today that he expects to white-wash the Army team, coached by Carl Ashworth, P. D. Q., when the two squads clash in the California Rose Bowl on July the Fourth. Speedway Run: Sir Raymond Houdeshell, Jr. set a new world's record for speed here today for an automobile when he went down the course at 550 miles per hour. It is said that Houdeshell used to make everyone eat his dust back there in his high school days. He's still doing it. What a speed! More miles to the gallon next time, Hotshot! Sugar Valley: Mr. Arthur House just recently purchased a large goat farm, which he has fully equipped for the dairy business. He and the Mrs.-to-be have been making plans for several years. West Manchester: The School Board of Monroe High School has hired all the teachers back for the ensuing year, however, it is

reported that Miss Marthaowagner, P. H. D., has resigned after completing 15 years as a successful teacher of history and Latin. As Miss Wagner left the school room, newspaper photographers surrounded her, taking pictures at opportune moments. When they bfgan questioning her as to why she had given up her teaching position, she only smiled and said, HI have never been so happy in all my life: for 15 years I have waited, hoping that the day would come when he would bravely say, 'Be m1ne'.U New York City: Mrs. Everett DePaus, the former Virginia Somers, is very much troubled about her pet dog, Mike. Indianapolis, Indiana: The sketch of NM1ss America of l96OH made by Harmon Pierce Johnson, Jr. accepted as the most famous sketch of all times, has recently been added to the art collection of the John Herron Art Institute. Cincinnati, Ohio: It is reported that Miss Martha Mary Deaton, who is one of the head nurses at Christ Hospital, was the cause of a very serious duel between Virgil House and WPeg Legu Eyler. They were both hurt seriously but they are now very content for they are under the special care of Martha herself. Skunk's Valley: Harvey Petry, Jr., who just recently spent some time exploring Skunk Valley, made an important discovery concerning the affect of weather conditions on the polecat. He asked the government to appropriate more money for another trip to Skunk's Valley, that he might do research work on the weather in order to eliminate some of the bad effects which he experienced on his first trip. Bikes, Dayton: The girls of Preble County Home Economics classes gathered in R1ke's auditorium today where Miss Mary Copp modeled the latest styles, including everything from head gear to foot wear.
