-my J. . 4 Nkusuy FootbaH Monroe's 1969 Football Team concluded their sea- son with a fine record of 5 wins and 3 losses. At one point during the season the team won 4 games in a row and ended the season just one game out of first place. The highlight of the season was when our grid- ders dealt Jefferson, this year,s City Champs, their only loss ofthe season, 26-14. Junior quarterback Dick Diminuco and Junior ends Tom Webster and Tony Thomas were elected to the All Scholastic First Team. Selected to the Second All-Scholastic Team were Mark Signor, Jim Lupiani, and Joe Bryant. Other stalwart performers were Paul Lew, Ron Cook, and Danny Lee. The outlook for next year is excellent, as 18 of 22 starters are returning. George uses his head Varsity Soccer This year's Monroe Varsity Soccer Team, under the able direction of Coach Ronald Zwierlein finished high in the standings of the tough City-Catholic League with a 6-4-3 record. The team displayed a very tough defense as goalie Dave Kolko registered 3 shut- outs. Our booters were seldom out-played, as all four losses were by only one goal. The highlights of the year were Don Quigley,s goal in overtime to upset previously unbeaten East, and the game versus Frank- lin, where our booters gave the city champs their hard- est game of the year before succumbing l-0. Our squad had three members on the All-Scholastic Team, as Dave Schwartz was elected to the second team while Dave Kolko and Jimmy Mihilitsas received Honorable Mention awards. Other stars who also de- served to make the All-Scholastic team were Rich Heiney, Don Quigley, and Mike McFarland. Heads Up!
