THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 1957 PRESENTS: MONROE HIGH SCHOOL ROCHESTER, NEW YORK Dedication We, the graduating class of 1957, owe a great debt to our community, the City of Rochester. For this community, by sustaining Monroe High School has freely bestowed upon us a most precious possession, education. And yet we have never been made to feel that any return was expected. Rochester has supported and nourished Monroe as the earth holds fast a growing tree. With its financial resources Rochester has given us fine, modern facilities in many fields. It has assembled a staff of first rate professional educators and assistants. These factors have made our years at Monroe a continuous and enjoyable educational opportunity and have caused the name of Monroe High School to be synonymous with education of high quality. We are proud of this. Rochester has provided a fine cultural and spiritual environ¬ ment for us. Its libraries, theaters, art galleries, museums, churches, and temples have offered a rich background for our high school lives; its institutions of higher learning and its industries have frequently extended assistance to further our education. For this we are deeply grateful. We also thank the officers and members of the Monroe Com¬ munity Association—the teachers, parents, and neighbors of Monroe— for their assistance in harmonizing our educational aims and in making Monroe High School a better place in which to learn and live. Such schools and home contact has been precious. All these advantages we recognize and appreciate. As an ac¬ knowledgment of our debt to our community and as an expression of our gratitude, we, the graduating class of 1957, dedicate this year¬ book to the Monroe Community Association and the City of Rochester. 2 MONROE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION OFFICERS—Mr. Robert Roop, Mrs. Harry Malley, Mrs. F.
