In the first league meet Edison was defeated by the score of 23-37 in a meet that included West High. Charlotte and Jefferson fell 15-51-80 to Monroe's plethora of running ability. In league competition the Redjackets finished the year with a record of ten wins and six defeats, and a tie for second -place with Franklin and Madison. In a playoff determining the representative for the sectionals, Monroe lost to Madison with three of the starting five out with injuries. The Redjackets also emerged with two triumphs over their county league rival, Brighton High. Bill Fitzgerald and Dave Anderson were chosen co-captains of the team. Dick Rush was barely edged out of a position on the All-Scholastic Team, but made Second Team. Dave Anderson and Bob Hicks received Honorable Mention. Coach. Kneeling: A.. Laney, R. Hicks, D.
