In your first year here you have made many friends and have become an indispensable part of our school. We have come to appreciate your sympathetic, understanding treatment of our problems, your willingness to help us, and your interest and participation in student activities. We remember you in many roles: friend, helper, adviser, as well as a talented actor. We know that the oncoming classes are lucky in having a chance to get to know you even better. The Girls' Athletic Association was organized in Monroe this year to further the activities of the Physical Education Department. The Association, in connection with the other schools, attempts to equalize the point system and to arrange play- days between schools in such sports as basketball and baseball. With Mary Beach as President, Connie Wendt as Vice- President, and Marjorie Ott as Secretary. they represent the girls of Monroe at the inter-high school meetings. The present officers hope that the Girls' Athletic Associ- ation will continue to represent the best in girls' sports at Monroe. After that, the team took the rest of the league in Monroe style, until the start of the second half, when we were again defeated by East. During this half, the Redjackets were defeated by a strong Marshall quint, also. This made necessary a playoff for the runnerup spot with West. The Red Shirts came out on top, as they did a Week later in the Sectional quarter-finals against Batavia. Hornell was the next stop, and Monroe bested them to set the stage for the season's third East game. The Orientals toppled us once again, to take the Section V, AA, title. Our neighbors from the Twelve Corners, Brighton, were defeated twice as Monroe retained the Hi-Y Trophy. Two 'Jackets were placed on the all-scholastic squads, and a duo on the all-sectional quint.
