llant will anil Cflmtament mb the graduating class of 1946, of the school of Monroe, in the County of Monroe and State of New York, having been at least slightly exposed to a secondary education and still being of sound mind and body, Whereas, our graduation marks the end of the reign of terror of Don Cushing, Tom Alesi, and Hannahbelle Haggett, our ever faith- ful Student Council Officers, to whom we are all deeply indebted, Therefore, we, the hopeful graduates of Monroe, do make, publish Q and declare this our last Binh QLPHIBIIIIPUI, in manner following, that is to say: To our teachers, one and 311, we express our deepest gratitude and thanks for their patience, help, and sacrifice, in dragging us through the four, long years at Monroe. To the future students of Monroe, we leave the cherished and hallowed halls of Monroe in which to saunter. To Principal Hawley, we leave an orderly and quiet assembly hall. To Miss Andrews, we leave one-hundred thanks for such nourishing lunches in our four year stay. To the Monroe Life Staff, we leave a 'Joe Miller Joke ,Book' and some copies of the Brighton Trapezoid for future reference. To our cheerleaders, we bequeath some new cheers and more student-wind support in the future. To Mr. Comfort, we humbly give a clean cafeteria. To Miss Schminke, we leave one mimeographing machine and a book on how to make outlines. To Mrs. Clement, our nurse, we leave one barrel of peppermint. To Mr. Gates, we, the male students of Monroe, hereby leave our draft cards instead of our college applications. To Mr. Rose, we bequeath the slide rule in room 163. To Miss Curtiss and Miss Marrocco, we leave an automatic counting machine and a new system of obtaining passes. To Mrs. Stolbrand, we give an honorary membership card in the W.C.T.U. To Miss Waugh, we bequeath one marriage certificate and one new Tulu doll. To our future varsity teams, we bequeath the will to win. MONROE LIFE MONROE HIGH SCHOOL, ROCHESTER, NEW YORK, MAY 10, 1951 Military Needs Increase General Alan Miller and Admiral Marvin Clickner demanded more men for the armed forces during a Senate committee meeting yesterday. At the same time the feminine heads of the women's branches, Hannahbelle Hag- gett, and Shirley Swartz, said more women were needed also. GOP Senator Introduces Bill Senator William Carson yesterday in- troduced a bill which, if passed, would provide for a three hour school day for all students over eight years. He was supported by senators Mark ,Adams, Ronald Bruczicki, and William Dana, Secretary of Labor, Fred Grossman, said he had no comment. The move- ment is supported by a women's league headed by Virginia Dapore and Doro- thy Phillips. Society An afternoon bridge party will be held this Friday, by the Wednesday Af- ternoon Ladies Aid. On the committee are Anna Barsamian, Helene Blank, Pat Bush, and Alice Doud .... This Sat- urday the Women's Monroe Alumnus CLub will hold its annual formal din- ner dance. Chairman is Virginia Bick- ford. On her committee are jean Chase, Audrey Riess, and Anne Corcoran. En- tertainment will be provided by Tink Molin and his Music Maulers. Mr. Molin has with his band that sensa- tional new girls trio, the Holmes Sisters, jean, joan, and Patsy. Also on the bill is that master magician Phil Donolatos .... Norman Roadarmel, M. Mus., will appear at the Eastman Theatre with his talking violin . . . . It is reported that Miss june Levin will be married next week to Admiral War- ren Snobbletree .... Mrs. Lois Snick- erhopp, the former Lois joseph, has just received her Master's degree from the U. of R. ., . . . Mary Santo has just been awarded the Regional Gold Prize for her painting, In6nity . . . . Ruth Hobblenail, the former Ruth Ricard, is the proud mother of twins at Highland Hospital. Labor Leaders Speak Head of the CIO, John Merkel, and AFL leader james LeChander, said they would fight any move made to reduce pay by those industrial giants Edgar Kaplan, Richard Epstein, and George Grice. Magnate's Life Saved The life of millionaire oil man, Diehl Ott was saved yesterday at Strong Mem- orial Hospital by a dangerous brain operation performed by that eminent surgeon, jack Peachey. Frances Bufano and Mary Mitchell assisted. Judge Grants Divorce judge joe Rosenbloom yesterday granted a divorce to Calvin Miller. Mr. Miller's former wife was the former Miss Mabel Snodgrass, a graduate of East High. Miss Snodgrass' case was pleaded by Don Slote. Mr. Miller's lawyer was Ralph Hyman. SVORTUGHTE At a recent coaches' meeting in New York City two nation-wide known coaches were present. They were Charley Nesbitt and Richard Wiles. Nesbitt is at present the head coach at Michigan, while Wiles holds the same position at Ohio State. Both have had very successful seasons. They have been widely known as pro-players .... Cur- rently starring for the Rochester Royals are Maurice Isner, Dick Stoetzel, and Ed Cunningham. All .three made All- National League and played in the re- cent all-star game at Chicago. The board of directors of the Royals now includes Harold Connor, Dick Corrigan, and Graham Chamberlain .... Ray Hayes is now playing for the newly organized pro-football club here . . .V . Red Loucks and Charles Churukian are members of the U. S. Olympic track team, while George Anderson is a member of the Olympic Swimming Team. 32 Engineers Abducted Police yesterday reported the kidnap- ping of two engineers reportedly work- ing on secret government projects. The two engineers were Don Cushing and john Baas. Although the type of work was not divulged, it was presumed to be on a new type of rocket ship. F.B.I. chief Robert Quigley was quoted as saying that an arrest was expected soon. The investigators at the scene of the crime were detectives Tom Alesi and Ray Finn. Both Alesi and Finn were baffled. la- .A Cinema News reporter Dan Patterson reports from Hollywood that Bob Brooks, that wild play-boy and man-about-town just gave away another car to some lucky girl .... Miss Patty Neel has just signed a new contract with MGM. fMiller, Goldberg, and Moscowitzj .... Ann Alexander has just signed to paint and design all the new sets for the forth- coming Paramount picture, Don Juan of the Desert starring Bill McCreedy, that new heart throb of the American girl. Supporting McCreedy in the cast will be Joyce Guest, Claire Leonard, and Margie McNair .... Bert Tannen- baum is complaining because his studio is again casting him in a criminal role . . . . That new comedy team of Ernie Thoresen and Al' Unterborn has them rolling in the aisles. Both are good bowlers .... Marvin Renner, the head of Renner Publishing Co., Inc., just an- nounced that Gloria Venema's latest book Forever Ambrose was just pur- chased by RKO .... Ed Murphy an- nounced that his client, Bette Wads- worth, will tour the U. S. in an exhibi- tion of the Russian Ballet .... Floyd Spencer, legitimate stage producer, an- nounced that his new play will have in its cast the following actors: June Levin, Mary Alice Wiles, Carol Wil- liams, Marion Watkins, joyce Esley, and Wallie Velie .... Robert Stevens and Leonard Potter have just been signed up by the Metropolitan Opera Company.
