DOYLE LEHMAN Doyle has been used in a reserve capacity for the past two years. al- though, he has seen much actio-1. He has shown a lot of determina- tion and ability to think properly in the crucial moments. He is es- pecially good at rebounding and cftentimes iips in a basket. He plavs forward. and is a junior. M. C. K. PAUL BRADFORD Paul was ineligible for one year because of IHSAA technicalities. Therefore, since he is a senior. his playing was quite limited. He im- proved rapidly and gave us some excellent assistance in a reserve ca- pacity during the sectional tourney. He was a very aggressive player and a good, Ufeeder? M. C. K. RICHARD COPPESS Dick was a senior and a very capable Student Manager for all four of his High School years. There was always something to be done and Dick always was there with a helping hand. He also was a great morale builder and was well liked by everyone. Dick will be hard to replace in future years.kM. C. K. CHARLES HOFFMAN Charles was the only sophomore on our varsity. He played some very good games and was an ex- ceptionally good feeder. He showed signs of inexperience occasionally, but his playing was above average for only a sophomore. Charles was a good one handed shot and he should develop into an excellent player in his next two seasons. He usually played. forward, but fre- quently was used as a guard. M. C. K. BASKETBALL 1948-49 The Bearkatz almost put another tournament trophy on the shelf this year. In the first two games of the Sectional against Monmouth and Berne, the team really showed their true blue and white colors. But they just weren't playing their best ball against Decatur in which they lost. They had a very good season too. The boys won thirteen games and lost only seven. Their record this year really proved they are a clean, hard working, and co-operative team. Of course, most of their fine tactics can be attributed to the excellent coaching of Myron C. Knauff. The scores were as follows: MONROE. . . ... .. .,......... . MILTON HABEGGER-Always good for a big laugh and loud nose blowing. GLENN RowDo.N-Mightiest midget on the team. Whatls Milton Habegger got that he hasn't got, except Pauline. X7IRGIL GERBER-He plays to win. Does his part, but scarcely lets anyone know about it. IQENNETH FUNK-All American substitute. Plays so many positions, he can scarcely keep up with anyone of them. PAUL BRADFORD-WOl'kS hard on the team. But, he still Hnds time to keep the teachers fat and sassy. JIM EHRSAM-On the team he's a regular old t'smoothy, but when it comes to gals, all he needs is a whistle. DOYLE LEHMAN-Like his brother, he's an all t'round athlete. Hard on opposing teams and too easy on the girls. DoN RUPERT-When playing basketball, the opposing team find him a hard man to beat. But when it comes to girls, its quite easy, isn't it Beverly? CHARLIE HOFFMAN-TDS only Sophomore on the team, and sure lets everyone knows it. :E: :iz :Za :iz Mr. Knauff: How many sexes are there? Lester Schindler: Three. Mr. Knauff: What are they? Lester Schindler: The male sex, the female sex, and the insects. Milt: Bertha, did you make all of these jokes up yourself? Bertha: Yep, out my head. Milt: You must be. Thirty
