Boys' Track Season of Ups and Downs The 1988 track season was filled with hope for a great season. The boys' dual record was 4-6 going into conference. The team did not fair so well at conference, placing 6th overall. There were some good times and bad times in the season. There were some outstanding performances turned in by some of the boys. Sophomore Jason Coppes turned in a top performance of 4:36.1 in the 1600m. His performace was good enough for the regional championship in that event, the 1600m realy team of Tim Riese, Chris Jones, Jason Coppes, and Dan Whitehead turned in a season best of 3:30.2. The relay qualified for the WIAA sectional for MHS. The 900m shuttle intermediate hurdles turned in a record performance for Monroe at Delevan. Mark Templeton, Greg Quinn, and Brett Pandow all combined in the event for the record time of 2:19.6. Monroe sent people in three events to sectionals. Mark Templeton in the triple jump, Jason Coppes in the 1600m, and the 1600m relay team.
