As New Project Kaybec Klub added a new taste in moneymaking projects for the annual trip to Quebec, Canada. Members sponsored the TurnAbout Dance, held January 28 in St. Victor's gym. The band Freeze entertained dance-goers with earth-shaking rock, including Student Exchange guests from Thomasville, Georgia. Turn-About entitled MHS girls to pick up the tab for their male counterparts with boutonnieres, meals, and dance tickets. Other financial projects were the deliveries of Lanz fliers and the sale of Kathryn Beich chocolate bars; its reputation a mouth-watering delicacy at Monroe High School. The Quebec trip prevailed during Easter vacation. A fourteen inch snowstorm ceased to burden spirits of the French students. The group attended a pro hockey game and Parliament, and toured St. Anne's Cathedral, wax museums, and viewed movies in French. Exploring Old Quebec included crossing the St. Lawrence River by ferry, and sampling and shopping at various shops, boutiques, and cafes. Accompanying the group were Mr. and Mrs. Larson and family. Kristi Tuescher was Kaybec Klub chairman, and Tim Babler was treasurer. 21

'Ya'll Come Back Now Monroe Student Exchange prepared well in advance to host their Southern friends—Thomasville, Georgia. Summer months provided fund raising activities such as selling cream puffs, calendars, and bar-beque. Snow and sub-zero temperatures greeted Thomasville students; accompanied by loads of snowball fights, skiing, sledding, and snowmo-biling in the last week of January. While in Monroe, the Georgians discoed at TurnAbout and polka danced at the barn dance. Monroe students had the opportunity to listen to Thomasville participants and learn about Southern lifestyles. T-ville also toured a cheese factory, a local dairy farm, businesses, and enjoyed an MHS Choral Concert, skiing at Tyrol Basin, Mt. Horeb, and many parties and get-togethers with partners, parents, and faculty. Monroe migrated their return visit in April, passing through Plains, Georgia, the Smokie Mountains, and spent an entire day at Disney World. Southern hospitality included plantation and home tours, a beach day, Blue Grass and disco dancing—culminated by the famous Rose Festival and parade. Monroeites returned-a little sunburnt-but grateful for an educational experience of knowing special people7' in another world.77 22
