Board Initiates New Crowning A new procedure was initiated for crowning the queen this year. Six girls, Becky Schmoldt, Denise Bybee, Cindy Youngwith, Linda Buhai, Andrea Cer-bins, and Patty Scott were chosen by the football team as candidates, and Linda Buhai was elected queen by the student body. The six escorts, chosen by the liason board and the football team were Ron Blum, Phil Tschudy, Mike Metcalf, Willie Gant, Mike Liermann, and Bruce Stiner. The game's tri-cap-tains, Tom Stormont, Steve Bechtolt, and Dan Kundert crowned queen Linda at the pep rally on Friday and also at the game's halftime. The pre-game and halftime shows were provided once again by the Marching Band, conducted by Dick Marti. During the halftime show we were visited by Darth Vader (Mr. Schilt), Chew-bacca (Mr. Krueger), and two jawaws (Angie Hall and MaryAnn Miller), all from STAR WARS. The unusually early spirit week's excitement climaxed on Friday at the required pep rally. Mark Austin was named Mr. Prettylegs '77 by the student vote, and the queen was crowned. Saturday's Key Club dance featured Tuxedo Junction, with Carol Irvin and Chuck Radke capturing first place in the dance contest. Tom Kessenich repeated his second place berth along with his partner, Jackie Tranel. The theme of the dance was the way we were.” 10
