HAYU SAGHALIE Editor - Wendy Sofie Adviser - Miss Donnetta Halverson MONROE HIGH SCHOOL Monroe, Washington Tales of WORK Although the senior class was small, its enthusiasm more than made up for its size. From the beginning of their freshman year to the end of their senior year they became a class unit. The many witty individuals, smiling faces, and ever-challenging minds in the class have made their high school years unforgettable. As graduation marks the conclusion of these memorable years, this outstanding class will go on to successful futures in all walks of life. 4 5 Tales of VICTORY 7 Homecoming week was indeed a week to remember! The week began with the election of the queen on Monday. An unforgettable highlight of the week came Tuesday when Joleen Prentice was crowned homecoming queen for 1969-70. Christie Bloor was recognized as Honor Princess, and Princess Kandy Jacobsen and Princess Sheri Ottini made the homecoming court complete. Many unique and colorful hats reflected the tremendous school spirit on Wednesday; and all classes constructed signs and presented skits to further support school spirit. Grub Day on Thursday was a great success with the participation of students and faculty alike in showing their loyalty. The enthusiastic pep assembly Friday was the final boost of homecoming spirit before the game that night against the Langley Falcons. As the last strains of Autumn Glory faded into the crisp, still evening, Saturday night marked the close of this memorable week. Princess Kandy Jacobsen and Princess Sheri Ottini. Queen Joleen Prentice with her escort John Sivarberg, receives roses from Junior Class President, Gary Smith, at the Homecoming Dance. For the Juniors the door to victory meant a first in skit and sign competition. The Freshman sign told of what the Bearcats meant to them. 10 A daytime serpentine was a tale with a happy ending. Sophomores offered a sign of special interest. The Bonfire symbolized the burning desire of the Bear- cats. The Senior effort ended a long tale of work, loyalty, and enthusiasm. In Memory Charlie Stewart 1951-1970 The thing that's been on my mind is the differ- ence that basketball and the people involved have made in my Senior Year. I can simply say that they have given me memories and events to look back on that just parties and screwing around never could have. The mem- ories were climaxed by last Wednesday's awards assembly. That was a good feeling. Charlie Stewart March 13, 1970
