Su ittete 7tt M zyvi - £rttily Tfca viy ctmhuAtnAtuM The same year that our present Principal, Mr. Gene Maxim, took office, Dr. Delbert G. Peterson left his office as the district Superintendent to a new man to our high school, Mr. Ernest R. Fox. This was the first time that Mr. Fox had held an office in our district, but he took over and fulfilled his job well. Therefore, in this edition of the Hayu Saghalie, we will try to give a little background of our new superintendent. Mr. Fox actually had quite a bit of training in his capacity as a superintendent before he ever came to Monroe. He was the holder of the same office in Cashmere, Washington for almost seven years, and did graduate work at Washington State College and at Stanford University. He graduated from Washington State with a Masters of Arts degree in Education. Mr. Fox is married and has one son. His wife is also active in the educational field, being a teacher in the Northshore District at Bothell. MR. ERNEST R. FOX Superintendent of Schools MR. GENE F. MAXIM Principal Principal’s Message While some of us would rather live from day to day and let the future take care of itself - most of us realize that only by planning for the future can we make the most of life. Seniors - did you take the opportunity given to you in high school to plan for the future? Undergrads - there's still time left for you. Are you planning to make good use of your high school time? Time passes more quickly than we realize. Many of the opportunities we had yesterday or the day before will not be available tomorrow or the next day. The future is what we make of it. MR. In the lounge they have a blast, They click false teeth ail through their class; But to their jobs they dedicate - Their time, their wealth, to find a mate. Advisors, coaches, young cadets Are other jobs a teacher gets, They love their kids, favor no sex, Just wait for the first, to cash their checks. And even though they are quite old, They’re young at heart, at least I’m told. But these are teachers, we should not gripe, We too may be fossils......in later life. 0 WfrtSWfrttbMA' LADIES 'rtyotyu Say atie Sta Advisor: Mrs. Barbara Rohn Editor: Dwight DeLong Co - Editor: Don Wiens Business Manager: Emily Moberg The Annual Staff is proud to pass on to you the Hayu Saghalie or 1966 - 67. The Monroe High School Band has more than done its share of entertainment this year by performing at many school activities as well as in various parades. All in all, this group of hard working students have succeeded beautifully in providing our school with the best possible musical enter- tainment. 74 The Band’s Drum Major is Mark Nelson. Oklahoma, a smash musical success, will long be remembered by the students of Monroe High School. Students and faculty together worked many long hours in preparation for the three-day presentation of the musical. Under the guiding hand of the director, Mr. Felix, the cast gave four outstanding performances. However, there were many unsung heroes behind the scenes who made Oklahoma'’ the success that it was. The Home-economics department sewed, pressed, starched, and designed the costumes for the hundred member cast. The Shop and Art students were employed making scenery which consumed countless hours. The make-up, stage and lighting crews spent time and energy creating special effects. The result of such an overwhelming production was not only its success, but the unity of spirit which it left within the students of Monroe High School. They are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and are to always possess a neat appearance, for they form a lasting impression upon many. 82 DnM lea This years Drill Team marched not only at several school activities, but also at various parades and occasions throughout Snohomish County and State. This time they tangled again with the first place Lake team and almost toppled them in their home grounds, but lost in the final moments of play by a 63 to 71 score.
