Eaditatinn gHHra. QIarnIgn Eammmk Carolyn Hammack was born in Virginia and is proud of her American ancestry. She is a member of the Fort Loudoun Chapter of the Daughters of the American Rev- olution and traces her background to the Lincolns of Virginia. The ancestor of these Lincolns was Jacob Lin- coln, an uncle of our sixteenth President, Abraham Lincoln. Carolyn is always a perfect hostess and lends t0 the Inn the warm feeling of home. Mrs. Hammack is one of the best friends that the Administration and student body of Monroe College could have. gJHiaa Earhart: gBudann Barbara Dodson is a native of Middletown, Virginia, and has worked with the Inn and Carolyn Hammack for five years. Guests at the Wayside know her for her poise and friendly personality. Our girls are definitely familiar with Barbara as she acts as their housemother and is a friend to all. 7 n ?sppretiatinn C'IHHra. Eirginia C11. gHHEIIard The Patriot staff wishes to extend an expression of apprecia- tion to our advisor, Mrs. Virginia C. Millard. Known for her re- sourcefulness in both the classroom and the office, she has con- tributed greatly Of her time and efforts to the students of Mon- roe College. Her organizing ability, her dedication to hard work and quality, and her friendly personality have especially aided in producing this yearbook. Fragident Enmard GE. milhur, Er. Mr. Howard G. Wilbur, Jr., president of Monroe College is a personality fa- miliar to every student. His administrative and teaching abilities have contrib- uted greatly to the growth and development of the College. The growing Mid- dletown campus is evidence of his courageous experiment in education. Elmhn 3311593211 38mm John Russell Burns is a Fairmont State transfer to Computer Technology at Monroe College. What was Fairmontss loss is Monroess gain. Although John came to us late, he deserves a vote of thanks as the second editor of the Patriot. For his hard work in this and many other activities including Zeta Pi Epsilon Fraternity, we thank him. gin C?qaprnzriaiinn Eearhnnk $taff With a great deal of pleasure I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to Judy Heflin, Gary Moore, Tom Burch assistant editor, and Lynn Gomes. They have contributed greatly their time and efforts to the production of this yearbook. I hope that in the years to come each and every editor of the Patriot finds as an efficient and cooperative staff as I have had. John R. Some had tears in their eyes, some had a smile on their face, some were happyebut most were sad-to leave their Alma Mater. As they received their diplomas they all knew that this was truly their dayga day which would be remembered by them, their parents and friendsv and knowing full well that they were now a part of the future.
