The Inn has been a welcoming landmark for travelers since 1797. In May 1961, Mr. Leo Bernstein, a Washington, D. C. financier and realtor, driving from a'business meeting in Greensboro, North Carolina. stopped at the Inn for dinner. He was impressed with the historic old Inn and purchased it within the hour. With this purchase started a most unique restoration program--a mingling of modern conveniences with the preservation of our historic past, with the knowledge and assistance of his manager. Mrs. Carolyn Hammack. Most of the meals take place in the Main Dining Room. This is a charming, old fashioned split-level room. It is a lively spot during the summer theatre season when after a performance both artists and theatre goers enjoy a snack and a brew with their conversation. Mrs. Millard talks to Alumni.
