Director-Miss Madeline Boyland tl STAGE CREW Lett to right: K. Louttit, G. Crompton. P. Wright, C. Thomp- son, I. Stetl A capacity audience accepted the invitation to at tend the Senior Play, George Washington Slept Here. The cast, stage crew, and publicity crew, under the direction of Miss Boyland did an excellent job in their preparation for the play. The stage crew made two scenes-one of the old house, and one of the repaired house. Both scenes helped establish the mood of the lines. The main plot is centered around a house that Newton Fuller bought. Mr. Fuller believed that George Washington had once visited the house and he was pleased with his purchase. However, when the house turned out to be nothing but a shambles, lacking all the modern conveniences, Annabelle Fuller was outraged. Finally they both decided that it was their home and they might as well repair it. They spent the money for the next payment on repairs and when they realized they cou1dn't make the next payment they restored it to its original condition. The play ends when the Fullers find that the shack is theirs and ahead of them is the job of repairing it again. There was humor throughout the play which, combined with the excel- lent acting, rewarded everyone who attended. The musicians practiced many long hours on marches and drill routines last summer, with the satisfaction of knowing that their performances at football games and parades were enjoyed by everyone. Some of the more popular routines used at football games were The Cowboy Show and Show Business with the band furnishing the music while the majorettes did colorful routines. The band also participated in the Halloween Parade, Veterans Day Parade at Donora, and the Memorial Day Parade. In addition to football games and parades, some members participated in the Forensic Contests and the District Band Festival. One of the most important and finest performances was the band concert on April 21 and 22, when a selection of overtures. marches, and jazz numbers was featured. This concert was important to the band members because they had spent many hours in school and at home practicing their music in order that their concert would be well attended by their parents and friends. A1 Cree, who brought with him a very successful record from Carmichaels, the Monongahela Wildcats undertook the 1954 gridiron season. In Coach Cree's debut, the Wildcats got oft to a winning start by topping a strong Snowden team. But two games passed before the Wild- cats' iangs tasted victory again, and then two were won in succession for the last victories of the year. The next game was probably the best of the year as the Cats played the Big Six champions, the heavily-favored Browns- ville squad, only to be defeated by a slim margin of two points. Each time the Wildcats lost they would bounce back ready for the next opponent. It takes a fighting spirit to come back for more as the team did, and Monongahela High School is proud of them. Football honors were awarded to Ierry Power, all Big Six first team choice, Leo Pasini, second team, and honorable mention to Anthony Massari, Lee Matuga, and Dave Stoy. COACHES FOOTBALL MANAGERS L.
