L P l V V L i L gzfering omior SZAOJ A SENTIMENTAL IOURNEY We students, returning to Monongahela High School for the 1953-54 term, found many features of our school system different from those of the previous year. Everything was brand news -administration, day's schedule, school hours, courses of study, rooms added to the high school, and the new Iunior High Building. Our school administration had changed. Dr. lohn Griffiths became superintendent of schools: Mr. Iohn Conte, principal of senior high: and Mr. Iames Sterner, assistant prin- cipal. The total enrollment on the hill above the Monongahela River was greatly increased by the addition of a junior high building, constructed behind the senior high school, which also was repaired and to which six rooms were added. of thirty-five minutes each be- came the cafeteria and the Schedules were rearranged. The three lunch periods came accepted as part of the regular school routine. Then double gym completed during the second semester. Class of '54, present our Flame, years to come, our book may serve as an endearing record of the faces and scenes we knew so well.
