Our first activity at the beginning of this yeai was the publishing of a nevs spaper. Another VVhoopee party was held in the Mother Nature denotes the coming of fall and winter but with us that phrase Tuinmg ot Leaves means nothing but the approach of examination time. Those weie the trying days Then came the grand and glorious feeling. Vacation. And then DlOlltl .Jl1lllOlS The opening of the thnd round of our struggle found us viith 128 members ready to stfrm those defenses behind which were concealed the knowledge of Punch I atm Fnelish Phy s1cs and other bug-bears. There was but one thought uppelmost in our mind the Jlll110I' and Senior Prom. During this year we were peimitted three paities Who can ever forget the good old cider and ginger- blead that was serve d us on our first Junior party? As Juniors we took on great pep The class of 99 began to show such pep that the Seniors became frighten- el At least that is the way they acted. As Juniors we elected the following officeis Piesident William Smith Vice President Hamilton Little' Secretary- Treasurer Grace Yohe At this time the Freshmen were all wishing that summer was here so that we couldnt throw snr-wballs at them. This was a very active yeal for us foi we all were members of various social clubs and other societies. A dream of many years was realized with the event of the Junior-Senior Prom. It was one of the best that was ever given and oh! how we wfrked to put it over. The girls in their Prom dresses and the boys in their Sears-Roebuck suits. It made a beautiful picture of girlish innocence and boyish deviltry. Andi with this event we closed another memorable year. Farewell Seniors. Going down Main street, I was busily engaged in viewing signs when a familiar name was being displayed out in f1'ont of a concert building. It read: William Beck, famous violinist, will give a recital here this evening. How wonderful, I exclaimed, to think of William achieving so much fame. I remembered him back in my school days playing at several of our school enter- tainments. l was very anxious to hear VVilliam. but wondered it' l could get a scat, for that evening. Luckily, I did, and I certainly was very well pleased with his playing. After the concert, l asked to see Mr. Beck. and sent my card. Xvilliam was very gracious, and I was permitted to talk to him about olden times. He said he had l1ea1'd about some old school chums. Edith Santina owned a very delight- l'ul bake shop in Monongahela with a wonderful trade, and a wide reputation for being a wonderful cook. Marcella Pickering and Eugene Stevens were still as good friends as ever. VVilliam said he believed they were engaged. Marcella always was a charming girl, I 1'eminded Bill. Dora Moskovitz was private secre- tary to a very rich man, and liked her job very well. Dorothy Young had decided to become an actress, and after taking instructions for voice and acting, was ap- pearing i11 one-act talkie entertainments. She was very popular in this field. Wil- liam told me that he had been talking to Mike Ferrari, just two days ago, and that Mike was a leader of a famous orchestra being cngaged at the big new hotel ' A I - - . - '91 . 1 V - -'i-WETT' ' ff 1 u, X K . 1 . The topics discussed at the meetings usually we-re centered around the perplexing Problems of American Democracy, which therefore made it neces- sary to have only those pupils taking Problems of Democracy eligible to join the Club. The large attendance at the regular meetings, since November 19, date of organization, has proved the interests of the members were greatly aroused.
