N.H.S. Scholarship, leadership, service and char- acter. With these four qualities in mind, the National Honor Society chose thirteen juniors and six seniors for membership in early October. The senior members, previously elected, conducted tapping ceremonies during first period. All went well except for a slight fand intentional? D slip of mind that caused re-entry into two math classes. For a week gold keys worn around nineteen necks were seen throughout school. Thursday, October 13, these keys were replaced with small, gold N. H. S. pins. Again, the advisor, Mrs. Thompson was pleased with the success of the solemn installation ceremony. All was not perfect, however, for a certain junior boy couldn't quite contain his dismay when he ended up in the wrong row of chairs. With Kathy Skaar, President, Marybeth Johnson, Vice-President, Sandy Huemmer, Secretary, and Ann Erickson, Treasurer leading the way, the National Honor Society undertook three projects. An honor pass committee, headed by Chris Buehner, investigated the possibility of some type of honor pass for worthy students. The red tape entangling this part of project slowed its progress to a halt. A very successful committee led by Kathy Skaar pro- vided N. H. S. members as tutors for students who needed or requested them. A third com- mittee, led by Debbie Hunter undertook the task of planning an exceptional field trip for the National Honor Society for the end of a year of busy service work.
