Consisting of more than 20 students, they traveled throughout the state obtaining an impressive record and rep- utation. Although the teams Weren't solidified until after Christmas, they had a con- sistently fine record. Everyone from the novice to the Varsity Weathered the dark and cold Winter morn- ings and the bumpy rides in a caravan of coaches' cars. Most of the rides concluded in an additional but unintentional tour of the city and local information -giving gas stations in search of the destination . Badeau. The successes of the Varsity included first place at the Beloit, Shorewood, Sheboy- gan North, Monona Grove, Badger Conference, and District tournaments. Beloit was victory for all teams ending in a 17-l sweep of the tournament. Most important, how- ever, Was the fact that the Varsity achieved the privilege of going to the State tourna- ment as one of the best teams in the state. But all successes were backed by the unified Work of all team members under Mr . O'Brien's dedicated guidance. Without the constant interaction, cooperation and hard Work put forth by all, the '66-'67 Debate team Would not have been What it Was. LIBRARY Why does MG have a library? That answer, anyone would say, is easy --to provide a place for students to get books and do some last minute studying. This is true--but the library does more. Its modern facilities include three almost soundproof conference rooms, the verticle files finfor- mation compiled on almost any subject and arranged in foldersj, filmstrips, records, tapes, micro -films, newspapers, magazines, and Wall-to -Wall bookshelves . For reference, the library has encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, and even the trusty almanac . To administer the library's vital services are several librarians and the student Library Club. Members are a familiar sight in the Library and a rarity in their study halls . Cutting study halls for library Work is characteristic . Most o the Library Club members love Working in the library. Questionable? Not at all. M. Rahng D. Andrews, L. Kohlhageng S. Garwoodg S. Moen, R. Sul1.2e5G Storm C Anderson R Thompson.

N.H.S. Scholarship, leadership, service and char- acter. With these four qualities in mind, the National Honor Society chose thirteen juniors and six seniors for membership in early October. The senior members, previously elected, conducted tapping ceremonies during first period. All went well except for a slight fand intentional? D slip of mind that caused re-entry into two math classes. For a week gold keys worn around nineteen necks were seen throughout school. Thursday, October 13, these keys were replaced with small, gold N. H. S. pins. Again, the advisor, Mrs. Thompson was pleased with the success of the solemn installation ceremony. All was not perfect, however, for a certain junior boy couldn't quite contain his dismay when he ended up in the wrong row of chairs. With Kathy Skaar, President, Marybeth Johnson, Vice-President, Sandy Huemmer, Secretary, and Ann Erickson, Treasurer leading the way, the National Honor Society undertook three projects. An honor pass committee, headed by Chris Buehner, investigated the possibility of some type of honor pass for worthy students. The red tape entangling this part of project slowed its progress to a halt. A very successful committee led by Kathy Skaar pro- vided N. H. S. members as tutors for students who needed or requested them. A third com- mittee, led by Debbie Hunter undertook the task of planning an exceptional field trip for the National Honor Society for the end of a year of busy service work.
